First, heres a very interesting article on the history of military uniforms http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G2-3401804317.html Second, with all due respect, I feel you missed a very important word in jedihunter80's original post, military style. Almost all, if not all modern drum corps and marching band uniform designs have been based on, in some fashion, military uniforms. Imho, jedihunter wasn't claiming drum corps ever wore military uniforms. He did claim drum corps have worn and still wear military style uniforms, which is a very true statement. a few examples of military uniforms.... http://media.lonelyplanet.com/lpimg/6533/6533-2/preview.jpg http://www.militarytravelclub.ru/images/mu...if/uniform2.jpg http://reeseartofwars.com/images/Russian.jpg http://www.owlpen.com/img/manderportraits/...rtiusMander.jpg http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/uploads//p...-1167190549.jpg (VMI, not USMA) and Main Entry: 1cos·tume Pronunciation: \ˈkäs-ˌtüm, -ˌtyüm also -təm or -ˌchüm\ Function: noun Etymology: French, from Italian, custom, dress, from Latin consuetudin-, consuetudo custom — more at custom Date: 1799 1 : the prevailing fashion in coiffure, jewelry, and apparel of a period, country, or class 2 : an outfit worn to create the appearance characteristic of a particular period, person, place, or thing <Halloween costumes> 3 : a person's ensemble of outer garments; especially : a woman's ensemble of dress with coat or jacket — cos·tum·ey adjective Main Entry: 3uniform Function: noun Date: 1748 : dress of a distinctive design or fashion worn by members of a particular group and serving as a means of identification; broadly : distinctive or characteristic clothing Based on the above definitions, modern drum corps 'color guards' (aka working guards) wear costumes. Modern drum corps horn and drum lines (eg Cadets, SCV, Cavs, Bucs, Crown...) wear uniforms. -contra chris -

Does anyone know if John Pasquale was not asked back or did he decide not to return? Honestly, I feel Cavs have one of the best playing brass lines in the activity. It would be nice if they played with a little more volume though. btw...love the mello line on the IYM pieces, best mello sound in modern dci, imo.

This sounds like an AMAZING oppurtunity Gene!!! I'm very interested in playing, whatever you need, tuba, mello, eupho or bari. Have access to sp marching only of the previous mentioned, hope thats not an issue -contra chris -
in regards to Spartacus, imo of course, if the audience never seen this movie but did see The Gladiator (as many have) I believe most would be able to follow the show and like it. I, for one, still has yet to see Spartacus, but since I did see Gladiator, it was new yet familiar to me and one hell of a show by Phantom!!! I def need to get hold of a copy of Sparticus. THANK YOU PHANTOM!!!

There's also numerous hotels in the Monore County portion of the Poconos (Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg, Tannersville) http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=navcl...ved=0CCUQtQMwAA and in Northampton County (Nazareth, Easton, Bethlehem) http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=navcl...ved=0CCEQtQMwAA . Average drive from any of these locations will be around 30-45 min. Hope that helps

Here's a few other mission groups that are responding to the disaster in Haiti: American Jewish World Service: https://secure.ajws.org/site/Donation2?df_i...donation=form1v Baptist Haiti Mission: http://www.bhm.org/bhm/index.php Catholic Relief Services: http://crs.org/ Mormon Church (partnerd with Islamic Relied USA): http://www.mormontimes.com/people_news/newsmakers/?id=12750 The Presbyterian Church USA: http://www.pcusa.org/pda/ In addition to these groups, US based companies such as Chase bank and Merck & Co. (includes global wide company Schering-Plough) have donated financial aid and (in the case of Merck) and medications. Many churches are also collecting relief funds from thier congregations and sending the funds collectively to their national/global mission groups. I hope everyone will assist the relief effort in some way.
