  1. I'm in college and I played it in college....
  2. acting like a jackass is still, acting like a jackass... different actions can have the same affect.
  3. I completely agree, I just think that the blame shouldn't be isolated to one group when it spread across several.
  4. The percussion staff is exactly the same, just a different writer... They needed a new drill writer because that was the weakest aspect. Plus, not to pick on Drew but brass is more his gig, nothing wrong with that, he is just better in that aspect. Also, Rick really didn't do that awesome of a job. He is good, he just may not of fit the bluecoats style, possibly. I also highly doubt that the bluecoats were the only corps to have "possibly" drank before retreat...
  5. Most of you all are forgetting that the brass approach rarely matters at all... It's all about how uniform that given technique and style is from person to person in that given horn-line. Do I agree with Phantom's brass methods, no. Do I agree with Blue Devils' brass methods, no. But they both do their respective method very uniformly, which is the purpose of drum corps. THe purpose is not who can create the best opinionated ideal sound. If everyone sounded the same, drum corps would be boring and there wouldn't be any diversity.
  6. Fairbanks Named New Program Coordinator (Canton, Ohio) - 9/2/2008 The Bluecoats are pleased to announce that Tim Fairbanks has been named Program Coordinator for the 2009 season. Tim brings with him to the Bluecoats a wealth of experience in the pageantry arts. He is the Program Coordinator and visual designer for the indoor percussion ensemble Rhythm X, the 2008 WGI Independent World Champions. He also serves as the Percussion Director for Centerville (OH) High School, where he is involved both the musical and visual design for their marching band and for their Scholastic World and Scholastic A indoor percussion ensembles. In addition, Tim is a visual designer for Aimachi, from Nagoya, Japan, the 2006 and 2008 WGI bronze medalist. He also served as Visual Coordinator for the Bluecoats in 2007. “We are thrilled to have Tim as a part of our team again in 2009,” says Bluecoats Executive Director David Glasgow. “His creativity both visually and musically is not only great, but also very cutting edge.” Tim is looking forward to working with the corps. “The Bluecoats are a World Class organization in every sense of the word. I'm excited to be a part of a great team and look forward to an inspiring 2009 season,” he said. The Bluecoats would also like to thank Drew Shanefield for his work as Program Coordinator from 2006-2008. “Drew did a lot for the organization during his time here, and we wish him the best of luck as he follows his true passion of writing music,” says Glasgow. Stay tuned for more announcements about the upcoming season!
  7. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...559&hl=ucla Check this thread out, this guy posted it earlier today.
  8. The drum book is really cool... I'm not sure about the horn book yet, I'll wait till the summer to form a better opinion.
  9. To each his own. I don't understand why people need to continuously question Hrothgar's thinking. Leave it be, thats his thing. It certainly wont stop me from enjoying a show. Honestly I agree with him, I'm not for narration, I usually hate it! However, if it is done right, then I will like it. Yes there will be skeptisism there before I hear it, but once I have heard it I form a second opinion. Hrothgar may do that, he may not.... doesn't affect my opinion one bit.
  10. I'll have to go with 91 Star HM: 99 BD, 96 Phantom, 82 BD, 84 Cadets, 75 Madison, 76 BD, 95 Cavaliers, 89 SCV
  11. Actually SCV has the most 2nd place finishes, followed by Blue Devils and the Cadets, then Phantom
  12. 2006 Madison, that was unreal. I am so glad I walked that 2-3 miles back to the stadium to see that. Didn't The Bridgemen Alumni perform at one of the Allentown shows?
  13. Hard to decide, but I think I'll go with 06 BD, that show was pure entertainment and nothing short of that. HM: 92 Cadets, 04 BD, 89 Phantom, 07 Cadets
  14. How could you do a show about boxing and NOT use atleast something from Rocky??
  15. 1995 Madison HM: 2003 Phantom, 1980 Spirit(should of won) every one of these shows simply blows me away
  16. 2005 Bluecoats Honorable mention: 07 SCV, 2000 Boston, and 83 Madison, because of Strawberry Soup
