  1. I'm a big fan of moccasins. Oh, wait.
  2. A winterguard 'vet of the early 70's told me color guards were using rifle to highlight the percussive elements of their music and saber/silk to highlight the lyrical elements of their music even waaaay back then. Who knows when it started.
  3. I don't believe the previous replies implied anything authoritative. I'm glad to hear the two associations in New York state are cooperative. I simply found it odd that two circuits existed in a state that has fewer competitive units than North Texas.
  4. OK. Don't tell me you're like my buddy who said "That was like watching a glass of water" or "Grass growing is far more entertaining" after every show? There was some amazing choreography and design that was thrown down Saturday, and I thought the finalist programs (and most of the higher placing ones also) were outstanding. I appreciate every single participants hard work and perseverance. Some of them showed off movement and "twirly-bits" that I can't even come close to achieving, and I've been at this longer than most. I'm glad I made the trip!
  5. William Henry Rogers! You are too much... B)
  6. I think Ms. H was making a point about how some elements in show design are timeless, and they are not as rare in our activity *as the "hip, current, in the now, have to be absolutely frickin different each and every single year" crowd would have you believe. The activity may have evolved, but I have been told by numerous elders that we all learn how to toss, spin, and march the same way our founders were taught way back in 1958, 1962, 1968, 1972, 1979, 1983, 1989, etc.
  7. Seriously. I agree with your position on JSU. They are an amazing line, but I don't think it'll be enough for Top 15 this year. As for Phantom, third or fourth. No problem!
  8. Surprise, surprise! It's cuz you from da' Sow'f, ain' it!
  9. The list a few replies up actually fit. Thanks for the help guys. I say again, the betamax originals, copies, and copies of copies we found are in better shape than most of the VHS versions I've seen. *It's a shame VHS won the first format war. Even stuff that's off of a camcorder still has beautiful color balance. I can honestly say the amazing picture is the result of media it's recorded on, and not the camera...
  10. Looks like that is the gymnasium attached to the Tenrikyo Aimachi Church. The marching band rehearses there also. If you listen carefully the camera is actually on a scaffolding, you can hear someone step on and off the platform the camera is on. The folks who clap are very close to the camera's microphone. But, I agree. They look amazing!
  11. Chanel, I believe ma'am. C H A N E L. I know nothing of this suit you speak of. *HGTTG reference for all junkies out there!"
  12. Thanks !! Now that I know who I'm watching, I'm enjoying the video that much more! Who are the Wild Cats? Shame Betamax went out of style...
  13. Thanks, but that doesn't help much. We've also tried to use the WGI OnDemand list, but that hasn't helped either.
  14. Watching 1980 WGI Olympics on BETAMAX with my buddy Brian. Does anyone know the order of units on each of the volumes. There are no labels to speak of and very few announcements of who's who. We're guessing and it's very frustrating!
  15. Sitao uses 36" from the look of their pics.
  16. The disparity between field and indoor seasons is the instruments that boys tend to play. Brass & Percussion. Until band directors, in general, become less apprehensive about allowing some of their best players to hang with guard, we're stuck with the boys who happen to play woodwinds. Which is 9x's out of 10.
  17. I know what you mean. When MAPAA and COPAA in Oklahoma ended their imbroglio everyone changed their mind about the benefits of this activity.
  18. I was curious, not being from the northeast, about the two circuits in New York? What can be said about them, how they work or do not work with one another? Do they have the same members? Etc.?
  19. Correct, but any individual at or over the age of 18 can be. Including staff members, parents, etc.
