DO IT UP DREAM!!!

I work with the basics, (standard 8-8-16, Sanford Double/Triple beat, Triplet Diddle, Accent Tap) but I always try to write with a groove. For instance, we play double beat but one section will play a groove check pattern while the other sections play the exercise. So that way the kids are having some fun while they are working fundamentals. Of course, having the seniors running the line (teaching exercises, facing command, discipline) goes a long way towards keeping them engaged and not getting bored. The other thing I do is hand out additional pieces of music for my more advanced players and periodically test them. They like the extra challenge.

....oh I know that Smell. Its the smell of the tenor section of So Cal Dream playing the on field warm up after getting our butts kicked on the field all afternoon. The tenor line really don't smell their best right here but at least they are laying down some tasty beats. Enjoy!!! (ps. Apologies for the atrocious stick click in the middle...the smell was getting to us! )

It was another great weekend for the Dream percussion section. We picked up a bass drummer and a pit member, spent more time cleaning the opener, and got a chance to ensemble the second tune with the horn line. You can be sure that this is definitely not the year to miss out on being in Dream whether you're a percussionist, horn player or guard. We have a couple bass spots and a few pit spots and if your a super stud (ie. got chops and can learn drill and music quickly) then you can still be in the snare or tenor line, pending audition of course. We just learned the new 60 sec. tentatively titled "What's That Smell?" It was kinda surreal seeing as how I believe we had a turnout of 6 or 7 for last years open house. Nice to see the growth happening. Thanks for the kind words for the Dream Drumline. The Walnut show was probably our most confident of the whole weekend. I can't wait for NorCal
