A Great Article on The Cadets
IllianaLancerContra replied to Terri Schehr's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
One could argue loss of money forces better behavior so one doesn’t lose any. I fear the chickens are about to come home to roost for DCI. If they lose they will likely have to put up bond to cover award before any appeal can take place. And this will be happening during the 2024 season. How this would impact their working capital for the season is unclear. But they have travel & facilities to pay for before the gate receipts start to flow in. -

Not sure this is the case. There were several off-ramps in the process where settlement could have happened when there were more assets available for liquidation than there are now. -

Some of the truth. But probably not the whole truth. There is always stuff that we don’t know that we don’t know ($0.02 to Donald Rumsfeld). -

DCI is also a defendant. And they do have some $ in the bank. -

Regardless of who prevails, I suspect there will be a lot of dirty laundry exposed. -

Looks like trial 3 June unless they settle in April. -

This is the key to every off-season. Every Corps is so much better than they were at the same time last year, especially according to their press releases. What matters (from a scoring perspective) is how much ‘so much better’ they are relative to everyone else’s ‘so much better’. -

Glad to see you here Chief. -
Next dumb question- once you get copyright clearances, do they last forever or do they expire at some point? Or is the clearance for a set number of performances? If SCV had clearance, I would hope they could roll them over to this season if the program remains the same.

Am I recalling correctly that the 2022 show was what they had planned for 2020?

Is the 24 design team same as 23 (pretty sure for percussion it is; not sure other captions)? I wonder how much of 23 was actually written before the plug was pulled?

Doesn’t help that the NCAA isn’t known for its bureaucratic consistency -

DCI could really use something like an independent Inspector General. But to be effective they would need the power to force the member Corps to do things they may not want to do. And as our Mr Ream will point out, that won’t happen. It reminds me of when I was in the Pentagon, you get to see how lots of Generals operate; and they just can’t bring themselves to discipline each other. It’s ok if a General is a serial adulterer, but if a captain or sergeant did it they would be court-martialed. -

Yup. And I am glad he is as he understands where to look, as well as what to look at.
