Drum Corps Injuries
Latrobe's Finest replied to argonaut's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I had terrible foot pain all summer, but that didn't keep me out of rehearsal. What did keep me out for two days was an infection in my foot which started creeping up my leg. I'm still not sure what happened, but I had a gash on my ankle that wouldn't heal and a very swollen foot. I let it go for a few days until we got back to WI for some rehearsal days at the Land then went to the ER where they told me it was infected. I'm not thrilled that I missed those two days, but it is what it is. -
Shenandoah Sound Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to announce its field show for the 2010 competitive season: South Pacific. The corps will perform selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical including Bali Hai’, There’s Nothin’ Like a Dame, I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta My Hair, Honey Bun, and Some Enchanted Evening. The exciting sounds of South Pacific will take audience members to the Pacific Theater of World War II where sailors, nurses and locals experience life during wartime. The thrilling and emotional music of South Pacific will have drum corps fans tapping their feet and begging for more. Shenandoah Sound is the only competitive drum corps in Virginia. The corps will travel to several Drum Corps Associates (DCA) contests during the summer months, culminating with the 2010 DCA World Championships in Rochester, New York. Shenandoah Sound is based in Manassas Park, Virginia and will hold its annual Open House on December 13 at Manassas Park High School. Information and registration information for the Open House can be found on www.ShenandoahSound.org

The wait is almost over.. The 2010 Shenandoah Sound field show will be announced.... tomorrow -
Big fan of the '02 show! I agree with an earlier poster that I think that Gmen should get back to that type of programming. It was unique and performed very well. Plus the flugel solo is legendary.

OT: I'll Never look at "marching" the same way

I saw their Christmas special a few years ago and I thought the same thing! Everything they did was uniform. They rotated lines with perfection. It's something to behold. -

Which Rules Would You Support?
Latrobe's Finest replied to fifer's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
This I would say yes to advancing the top OC corps to WC Quarterfinals. But, like everyone has said, that would require changing the entire finals week set-up. Related to that, I would go back to having classes based solely on size. I think it's stupid that you can have a 150 member corps in open class that doesn't get to compete against a 150 member corps in world class. There used to be a time when you could explain why corps were in different divisions.. -
Age-outs, who WOULD you audition for
Latrobe's Finest replied to Bob J's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I always loved SCV, Carolina Crown and the GLASSMEN, so I would go back in time and audition there. -

Absolutely. We have members from MD and VA and I know that many folks are willing to give rides and help out with transportation. -
Hi all- I'm going to be helping Shenandoah Sound with PR and recruiting this year. I have some questions I'd like to ask those of you who do similar jobs for your corps. So, if you're a PR person for your DCA corps, would you please PM me? Thanks!

The open house is scheduled for December 13 from 1-5pm at Manassas Park High School in Manassas Park, Virginia. Shenandoah Sound is the perfect drum corps for people in the DC Metro area. What type of corps should I go for?
Latrobe's Finest replied to MDBaritone's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
If you're looking to do DCI, you're closer than you think to the Jersey corps. You're also close to two great DCA corps: Shenandoah Sound (Manssas VA) and Reading Buccaneers (Reading PA). -
DCA Championship Bids
Latrobe's Finest replied to TomPeashey's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I'd obviously love to have DCA 80 minutes away in Annapolis, but come to think of it, Canada would work. If corps had a year or two notice that finals would be there, that would give them enough time to prepare. As long as corps told their members to get passports early, there shouldn't be a problem. Could work.. Related question-does/did DCA release which cities bid for championships or do they just share who wins? -
