Drum Corps Myths Destroyed 2006

Everything about drum corps sucks unless I was marching during that time. We need to go back to doing it THAT way before you "new fangled" drum corps fans blow up the whole planet! -
Drum Corps Myths Destroyed 2006

Myth: The Cavaliers win by playing "whole notes" Truth: The Cavaliers win by performing effective, smartly-written shows that are challenging at the appropriate times. -

Congrats on another solid finish Bush, and best of luck next year! :) -
Buccaneers, I love you. But please be careful!

As is usually the case here... people are going on old information... about 4-5 years ago, Bucs were comprised mostly of people under 30 (I know, I was one of them)... but in the last 2-3 years I've noticed a lot more mature faces among their ranks. -

If someone had told me 2 years ago that I was going to say this... I would have told them they were crazy... but I agree with this guy... I thought Bucs were less exciting than the last few years. I think the "most entertaining" trophy was well-deserved by the Cabs this year. It was just a more intellectual year for Bucs... which is a big part of their identity. The crowd still ate it up just like they ate up one of the more esoteric and intellectual shows ever fielded (IMO) also from the Buccaneers - 2005. -

Yeah, I have seen that video from 99... poor Sunrisers were having buckets of water thrown on them almost... didn't even seem to phase them though. :) -

I'm going to keep this short and sweet: I'm sorry you had such a terrible time, but I doubt anyone held a gun to your head to do this. Perhaps you should research an activity and ALL the things it entails before jumping head-first into it? If you don't like it, don't join and/or volunteer next year. This is the nature of the beast, take it or leave it. Playing in the rain and the cold and the mud doesn't kill you... it's just another adversity we must endure as an outdoor activity... as an instructor of mine once said about our crappy home rehearsal field... "If you can play on THIS, you can play on ANYTHING" -
I don't know about all that, people have to remember that everyone has a life outside of drum corps and sometimes people HAVE to miss... but missing rehearsals after letting your caption head know in advance, and showing up late/ditching practice are two totally different things.

Well, I guess you can take heart in the fact that whatever the situation may have been between you and the corps, you just made it A LOT worse. I had some problems in the past with posting things like this on the web and I can assure you that most corps administration will probably not take kindly to it. My take on the situation is quit (posting about it) while you are behind and find another corps to march in, you probably just burned your bridges with the White Sabres.

DCA ROCHESTER PRACTICE SITES

You guys should have drum corps boat tours down the river. *"...and off the port bow, you will see the Racine Kilties"* :) -
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but one solution to your complaint (which I whole-heartedly agree with!) is to request your DVD's as "high angle-only" There is a section for comments when you place your order with BVP, and if you request the high-angle they will oblige. I love it beacuse you see the show as you would if you were sitting at the top of the stadium. If you can live without seeing 3 mellophones marching across the field at a time, or that glorious moment when the solo guard performer transitions off the front sideline, then this might be an option for you! (I hate multi-angle vids, does it show? :))

Jeff, Why are you yammering on when you should be writing your review?? :)

Unfortunatly I saw most of the corps from the back since I was helping out with Bush most of the time... I got to see Bush from the stands and Reading's victory concert and I am very confident that I was looking at at least 2 of the top 3. Great job to all!!

WOW. Reading the update brought upon such a rush of pride. This corps continues to amaze me every time I am in its prescence. I said awhile back, that this would be the year we would have to prove our return to the top in '05 wasn't just a flash in the pan, and so far every expectation has been exceeded in '06. GOBBUSH!!!!! b**bs
