  1. Well obviously you have to beable to spin but I was told that in World class they award more performance and pushing the boundries, so if you have a droppy show as long as your performance, design, and work are at that level than it wont really be an issue. To me it seems Fantasia has always been droppy, but they are great performers, and can spin the equipment.
  2. I have a question for those that know about whats going on at Crossmen. I am looking for a place to march color guard this summer, would I beable to audition Crossmen still?
  3. Well I have never auditioned for corps but I will give you my opinions on some the subjects you talk about. On this I dont believe they shouldnt consider you a canditate, I mean some corps judge you differently, they want talent maybe thats already there while perhaps another corps wants the best potential they can find. The corps wouldnt know why they cut you so why should they automatically throw you out, thats very close minded on their part. I believe once a corps has a well established and successful program the members start coming to them, the ones that already have all the talent, they want to be in the most successful drum corps. Its kind of weird though because it poses a disadvantage to corps like the Pioneers, yet there was a point in time where SCV, BD, Cavies where all at that point at one time. Location could have tons to do with it as well, like California has so many great musicians, and talent, as well as staff, and because they are there they go into SCV and BD, etc. May not be the situation for all successful drum corps, but it certainly plays a part with some of them. Ok well it does help if there are alot of old people in anything that requires teamwork, because then you are familiar with people and may beable to work better with them. However the staff plays a good part as well, the Colts would need a fantastic show to get them to that top 6th placement, the same with Pioneers. Look at the Cascades this year. Of course I am going purely on what I have heard but in 2002 they made finals, then staff changes started to happen, and now they scored a 61.950. Everybody who I have seen a review from said it was their show design, the stuff that the performers cant control.
  4. SCV broke 80, hope somebody can get a review up soon.
  5. I saw the scores off the Santa Clara Vanguard site, I really wonder now whats going on with the cascades because they still havent raise their score, or much anyways.
  6. I havent seen them although I have heard of them, they seem great, although they have to lose sometime especially if they go to Div. 1 where they will compete against Blue Devils, Cadets, and all the majors.
  7. Of course things that are run by committee dont turn out that well, youve got so many different points of view that theres no way it can get to be really good. I wish the best of luck to the Cascades, hopefully they can shape up, and make some jumps.
  8. Couldnt be I mean they are mixed in with the cavies, BD etc.. I would like to see the Cascades in finals though. Its still pretty early to make the assumption that drum corps like the Cascades are completely out, even though they arent in the best position now. They certainly have potential to clean up, maybe people will see a completely different Cascades come championships, I certainly hope they get up there atleast where they have been for the past few years.
  9. I am new to the drum corps world and everything, and hope to be marching a corps next year(so dont be too hard on me) but I dont think Seattle will continue to go down, from a score standpoint they might have tripped at the starting gate, but I think they will get back up there.
