  1. Anyone catch Adam Rapa? Lots of fracks and way out of tune at many points of Anthem. He must have had a bad night.
  2. I remember way back yonder, didn't have much money back then, so I had a dubbed blank cassette tape of 88 finals. I virtually eroded the magnetic material from this TDK cassette on Devils 88'. Melodic content, real virtuosic solo playing, bad ### tight forms, GE, Beautiful chicks with bad ### tans releasing balloons in the KC night sky where Okoye ran roughshod over defenses. I digress..... good feet and of course .......deadly execution,,,, Just what drum corps should still really be.
  3. How bout' an Araban's cornet exercise on the field? Try Madison Scouts 97...Cool, Now try taking that up the octave, maintain good fundamental sound (all overtones present) in upper tessitura and articulate lightly and nimbly like. Now try interlacing that with a spritely calypso groove... That's hard when i listen to that.
  4. Fave Single Section of all time 1992 - Cavaliers - Gavorkna Fanfare - Trumpet quasi double tounge / watered down MELODY feature Brass MELODY!!! after botched SOPRANO solo on a bad ### tune by Malcolm Arnold. --- Percussion feature f'ing bad! 1992 Blue Devils - Poison lick from multiple tenor 1990 - Devils - Percussion feature... They just don't write them that juicy and developed any more. Solo and MELODY work by brass line at the end of Tommy 1991 Devils - Soprano feature in Conversations (?)In Texas that feature would have received a two but I love it for it's ballsiness! Definintely not ballzheimers. Devils 1993 - Trio quartet (?) ensemble work by Scott and those bad baris(in a good way) Y'all know where. It's when Scott I guess, starts going into that 16 note lick, tounge two slur two upper tessitura bop ! WOW! 1989 Cadets - On my own Wow. 1989 Scouts - Make His Praise. It's just drum corps at it's finest and a truly underated show in Scouts lore. Actually, MHP is still a highly performed work for hs bands across the country! SLAUGHTER!!! The definitive version of this piece 1994 - Trio to open the show. That's pro level folks... Madison had some ringers through thier time line folks. Kids That to me always get my blood going. That call, you know. It's just a good mode to play those bulgles on. MORE LATER!
  5. 89 Regiment. You got to love the fine solo playing. Even with the simple brass book.
  6. I concour that the arrangements are rough. They sound like a bad Wayne Downey arrangement. I don't know if its the voicings, key sigs, or just the source material.
  7. Blue Devils 88' Rocking hornline, very musical...
  8. It is latent racism on elitist posters! It is also outright jealousy that the show band style or even to a lesser degree military band style (ala Texas A&M Fighting Texas Aggie Band) is loved and supported by most of the population black or white!
  9. Isn't Michael Cesario's brother Jeff Cesario?? I think he's made a niche for himself in the comodian business.
  10. You know on second thought, yeah.. some of that High Voltage stuff is weak but you get the gist. I know the Sacramento Freelancers tried a Chase show but it really wasnt as effective as it could have been. Can you imagine using an Echo-Plex with soloists throughout the field to get some of those great effects Chase and Don Ellis used to use?? Speaking of Don Ellis why not more of his stuff. It's ultra sophisticated! Not just the famous tunes but some of the obscure tunes he's done?? So much!! What about the compositions of Hank Levy< Rosolino? Urbie Green, More Watrous??? Not just TIger of San Pedro? Crap why not a Bllie May show. Didn't he have a string of hit records with just Brass??? #### Nelson Riddle???
