  1. Cool! Thanks for the link to that recap! I guess I should have rephrased - they DID tie SCV in percussion execution. SCV edged them out overall. Still, pretty impressive especially considering they were 9th place...
  2. I'm going to have to order some DVDs from that era myself. I have been listening to mp3s of North Star, Crossmen, Madison and BD the last week or so and boy has it brought back memories! I was introduced to Drum Corps in 78 so to me these were the most exciting years.
  3. Well there's always someone here to pee in the cheerios! <**>
  4. My point, although I really didn't state it before is that I'd like to see a happy medium between today's drill design, pit, and talent combined with music that actually entertains.
  5. You got it! I believe they tied SCV for high drums that year. I could be wrong though..... Anyone?
  6. I just got done listening to North Star's 1979 show. Man, what an entertaining rep thay had that year! A little Chuck, a little Maynard, topped off with the Beach Boys. And what a smokin' drumline thay had! Imagine if one of today's corps decided to break with the current trend of artsy-fartsy and actually blew us out of the stands with music like that. OK - I'll wake up now..............
  7. Thank you, Sir for spreading the good news so quickly! I, like most Scouts fans am looking forward to next year!
  8. I'd bring back the Sky Ryders! - What an entertaining corps they were! Sky Ryders Snareline - 82
  9. I'd have to say the Capital Regiment had the best design of the year. Does anyone remember when the guard used to actually wear uniforms? I'd love to see that again!
  10. I liked Madison! Of course I always do. I used to think Blue Devils had the best pit but since Jeff Lee moved on they have been lacking a bit.
  11. How about everyone just hope for the best! Speculation doesn't do anyone any good - This is for the Madison folks to figure out, and I hope for the sake of their members and fans they make sound decisions. My bet is the Madison Scouts will come out OK. I'm not affiliated with the Madison Scouts - Just a lifelong fan...
  12. I just pray that whatever staff the Scouts end up with at least keep their members informed on what's happening! Imagine finding out all this through DCP or other internet sources. Those kids worked so hard this last year - they put on a great show - worked their tails off! They deserve to know what is happening!
  13. Sounds like someone screwed up big time! If all the remaining caption heads quit at once you have to wonder what decisions were made to cause it. I wonder if the BOD is biting off more than they can chew here? I am not affiliated with the corps at all - just a really big fan so I can only hope something good comes from this - for the members and the fans!
  14. I don't want to sound too negative but you might want to get a good night's sleep first - Its kind of hard to stay awake during their 2006 show.
  15. Is he really? That's too bad. I would consider that a step down.
  16. Well - I have only seen the Magic twice - once this year in San Antonio and once last year in Houston. I've got to say I enjoyed both performances! During both shows I was sitting fairly close to the front so I couldn't see the drill clearly but I personally thought they were one of the most entertaining corps of the contest each time. Their uniforms are amongst the best in DCI and their musical choices are actually ENTERTAINING for the crowd. They may not score the highest but I for one hope they stay around because I will always look forward to seeing them perform!
  17. That shows someone at YEA has a really good sense of humor. Probably make more $$ off these than their old uniforms.
  18. You bet it is!! That's why I chose the blue! Hope I get it before next year...
  19. I thought they were extremely clean - obviously their scores reflect that but unless you are REALLY into the musical selections they were just boring!
