  1. What you are saying is anything with a microphone is terrible. There are many examples when it can be performed tastefully especially with the scenario that I explained above. Personally, I believe that your bias against amplification will always cloud your mind and never allow you to expierence something perfect even if it is done by the use of a microphone. So yes, it is rude and inconsiderate because you are becoming ignorant, which is something that no one should ever become. Accepting new things is a great thing! Live...Learn....Peace :)
  2. i'm not saying you cannot have an opinion, but don't be having one that is just rude and inconsiderate, especially when it becomes quite sophomoric.
  3. ugh get over yourself. Amps aren't the devil. Do you not like when announcers use amplification then either. I mean what if the person in the pit had the BEST VOICE EVER...or was trying to imitate someone like say JFK or Bobby, why wouldn't you want to hear that instead of a poor kid SCREAMING his lungs to be heard by the first row of people. I mean seriously. You are really just ignorant on the issue. (yes i used the word correctly: uneducated/unknowing)
  4. Thank GOD! Someone said this!!!!! Seriously, I cannot believe that people are UPSET about the Cadets doing anything political like that, oh wait, it is NOT political at all. Saying that you are AMERICAN doesn't mean anything! I think it is a GREAT thing, especially since the roots of Drum Corps is just that: AMERICAN! GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THE CADETS WHO ARE NOT AFRAID OF LAZY BLOGGERS!
  5. First of all, Many of you are becoming and acting very immature. I do not understand why we are debating something that we really do not know nearly enough about to have an educated debate. Seriously, Hop and the design team has released ONE SONG and a TITLE of the show...THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!! Nothing else, but people are guessing and criticizing just for the sake of doing that because they have nothing better to do. I couldn't care less honestly because the Cadets will perform a great show no matter what, and I might be one of the only people that believe that, but oh well. I just really wish that all of you who care SOOOO much and are soo ANGERED by the Cadets care THIS MUCH about the current situation of the United States of America or the world for that matter. Maybe all that ANGER, ACTIVISM, and BS could be used to stop child labor, the war in Iraq, global poverty, but NO you all just ##### and moan about a SHOW that hasn't even been created entirely yet. Let's wait to see what happens in 2007 when we know enough. Until then...let's criticize, #####, moan, and complain about shows that are already completed. Happy Holidays to you all!
  6. I was just wondering if anyone heard anything or got some information about the show concept for the Cadets. Hoppy was supposed to be making the announcement tonight. I have a few friends in the Cadets, but I haven't gotten a hold of them...cell phones off....hmm just wondering...hopefully tomorrow they release?!
  7. did i miss a show release here, but why would the cadets have a "crime" appear on the field? maybe I've been in Greece for too long on holiday, but what is going on here????? DO explain!
  8. Good news from friends who are in the Cadets...saying that Hopkins is EXCITED about the show and told them all that this is a year that they'll be proving to all DCI that they are one of the best corps ever. This is a paraphrase with my own flair. Basically the friends I have are STOKED and are READY to get playing, but Hoppy hasn't let the cat out of the bag yet...but I'm sure it will be great, and PLEASE do NOT THINK THAT THEY ARE NOT USING AMPED VOCALS BECAUSE OF THE FANS...PAAHHLEASE.....if you think that you are CRAAAZY! BEcause, actually, a lot of fans enjoyed it...soo....yeah....Go CADETS!!!!!!
  9. haven't really written much for awhile...but I decided to comment on this. I think the Cavies might do something like how they worked with all the various songs of James Bond, and used songs that many of us would not have thought for a 007 show. I highly doubt they will do "Piano Man" as a "full chart", but rather incorporate it with other pieces like "Pressure" or "Stranger" or "The Entertainer", which are all amazing charts to perform. I also the ballad might be something from his earlier days, but I would love to hear "She's Always A Woman To Me" great piece...seeing him and Elton perform many of these songs was the best concert I've ever seen...I expect the Green Machine to do GREAT with this show...and I feel as though they will throw in "Allentown" for the Eastern Classic, even if it doesn't stay in the show the entire tour. Good choice Cavies Team... make it memorable , like I know it will be! NOW if only Hopkins makes his show memorable................. peace B)
  10. Sometimes I wish Hop posted more often and actually explained himself. Because I really do not think he deserves as much as hate and bashing as he has been given. But, I guess when you are like JoePa then you expect it, but it isn't fair. Hop is a great guy. Someone who loves Corps and always will. He has given the Cadets its best years...and has changed this organization and "sport" for the better! I thank Hop and the Cadets for ALWAYS making people wonder and look over their shoulder when Finals is upon the other corps. As Fielder said once the Cadets are the ones he fears the most. And he really should fear them, and so should everyone else! GO MAROON AND GOLD! <now the bashing of my post and myself shall commence, I'm sure!>
  11. Interesting news coming from the Cadets camp today. http://www.yea.org/site/News2?page=NewsArt...ws_iv_ctrl=1401 Mr. Sylvester, who has worked with the Cadets for 25 years, is calling it quits, kind of. He will still be there for advice and suggestions, which is always helpful. Now it will be interesting if Hop can get someone as good as Marc, I doubt it. If not, I think Hop with the help of Tom and Jay especially will lead the 2007 Cadets design team... Marc will be missed!
  12. Interesting topic...I was kind of confused by why a lot of people we calling the person who posted on Hop's Blog "ignorant." It bothered me because the word was always used in a way to show he was the rude person. Ignorant means unknowing or uneducated in that subject. So, this person MAY in fact be ignorant on the status of Drum Corps and he might be rude and caustic, but actually all who used the word incorrectly was just as ignorant as the author of such a post. I don't mean to sound snobby, but that is just a BIG error that gets me a little upset. Interesting views on the Cadets show. I personally loved it and I have been called many names for thinking this was a great show. It still is provoking large discussions...so good for HOP!
  13. just an FYI for those who read Hop's blog for finding fault or getting a better glimpse into the life of Mr. Hopkins and The Cadets...it seems as if the blog has been removed from the www.yea.org/cadets website...hope you all saved his livejournal address... :P
  14. This is a great article that shows that the kids really didn't care about losing to the Cavies and BD throughout the season...this was more about performing an amazing show and getting to build relationships...a great article :) http://www.yea.org/site/News2?page=NewsArt...ws_iv_ctrl=1002
  15. DCI will probably not address it since it was on Hop's blog...they should because there is a problem...even with the Guard Judge that gives BLOO a low score all the time...not fair...but unfortunately DCI will probably just "ignore" the issue at hand...
  16. well, I have family out in Burbank, Newport Beach, and LA...and i've been to the rose bowl...MANY OF TIMES...there is a lot to do...if you have a car...if you don't...then of course...you are screwed...but there is shops in pasadena...cafes...places to eat...sleep...dine...and be divine... SOCAL ROCKS!
  17. some believe he is not...ask the 135 members...my friends who marched and currently march for Mr. Hopkins think he's an amazing man...
  18. so cadets have an off year next year and don't make top 12...that would be interesting to watch happen...pass the stuff your smoking...
  19. ha...sorry my mistake...maybe GOD...then Hop is that better? And yes i think very HIGHLY of Mr. Hopkins...he is a great man...and all of my friends who march the Cadets think he is just an awesome guy...he seems genuine to me when i have heard him speak or watched him at rehearsals...
  20. i wouldn't say the WORST...that's kind of "harsh" but I feel the Cadets did a very good job throughout the season with such adversity...and there were wonderful moments from Crown, and Boston should be happy...Xmen...a little disappointment again for two years in a row, not good...but next year maybe? BLOO did a great job...I don't know if I would say they did BETTER than the Cadets but equally...their percussion was where it was at....but then again, so was the Cadets, just not as clean:( And to be honest...BLOO's guard was great...that judge...I guess doesn't like the design and work from BLOO, kind of weird, ain't it? Oh well, I digress...great year for midwest corps...Congrats to the Cavaliers...and a big congrats to Phantom for winning the Percussion Trophy for the FIRST TIME EVER!!!
  21. thank god there are more people who understand that Hop can't control DCI...geez...it's like speaking to a wall with some of these people...its a proposition...THATS IT...and it is not even official because it is before Sept. 15th...
  22. I think it'll be these suspects for the top 6...no particular order The Cavaliers The Cadets Blue Devils Bluecoats Santa Clara Vanguard Phantom Regiment
  23. BLOO was on fire tonight...it was very nice to see them have a great season. Congratulations to all the members, volunteers, and staff...tonight BLOO should celebrate and be merry...they deserve it...
