  8. Said on another thread...from JC7105 - Sunrisers... I wanted to thank ALL of the other corps in this fine group we call DCA. To have gone from the old days and winning open championships, to the payback of the last years, it gave me the thrill of a lifetime to see the overwelming support and total class displayed by virtually EVERY corps to us. As we went to take the field in competition we were greeted and cheered on by each and every corps on our way out. Man what a feeling that was,... one some of us have not felt for quite some time and it gave me chills to see and hear that! I was overwhelmed with how much class and sportsmanship displayed by you all, truly. I also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many folks from the other corps after our performance and before/during retreat. Absolutely outstanding individuals, all. Seems there is a true olympic atmosphere throughout DCA. We, at Sun will continue working as hard as we can to earn your respect and remain worthy of it. We will never take that special feeling for granted and truly appriciate it. I said about a month ago there were some fine people in this DCA org. I had no idea there were so many. To all, we thank you and enjoy this (however brief) off season. Ya made one ol' geezer in Orange & Blue very proud. John Clougher Sunrisers 80 - Present

  11. Thanks... Live from the hotel in Rochester Long road back ...Thanks all.....What a great exp. tonight... I can't say N'uf about how much we apppriciate the support from all DCA corps. From the parking lot to the field ...So many classy corps and out there. We thank you all. WHAT a Blast!!!!!!!! JC Sun 80 -?
  12. Hey Nat! Yes...what a blast it is to be able to do that....hoping to retire to my cave this winter for a loooonnnggg nap...LOL JC
  13. I actually had 8 years with Crusaders before joining Sun in 80. I also got to march with my son!. What a blast! Best of luck this weekend! John Clougher Sun
  14. Nothing is a sure thing....we will work our butts off to make it so...LOL.... I guess the main point is that ANY of these corps can win this thing. Many of us have not seen one another yet, so we all don't know. This is an exciting weekend coming up that is for sure. Having been in DCA championship shows for the last 28 years or so, this is one of the first true NATIONAL meetings to determine a winner. I can not recall a DCA championship with a race this tight in class A or open. It should be exciting. One point I have always felt in all these years. Wether you are in the Top open class corps or last place overall...we all have to work just as hard individually. We sweat, practice, gasp, march and run all summer, all trying to be the best we can be, regardless of anything else. I wish all the best of luck this weekend and hope all enjoy whatever takes place. Be well and be Proud...I think we have ALL earned that! John Clougher Sunrisers 80 - ?
  15. Count Sun in on that trip....with how hot it was Saturday CA would be a very nice change and an awesome trip. Cab fare is a diff. story..LOL...Maybe Bill Gates could fund this one...LOL.. John Clougher Sunrisers 80 - now
  16. Hey all.....we could all form one huge corps and go open!...LOL.... This should be fun....Best of luck to all....!
  17. Oscar???? Hey man how are you.....haven't seen you in ages...well 20 years anyway....where are ya livin' now??? John Clougher
  18. Wow we are all roughly the same time frame....(Twilight Zone music) I was 9 in 1969 and Also was at the dream....watching Yankee rebels get"Robbed Again"...LOL...I liked the Huricanes hats and the Rebels Guard uniform. Growing up in Edison, I was destined for the Saints but before I could go allot of friends from School (including my brother) went into this other corps from Manville. All my school friends were in Saints. Our director also taught drill at Emerald Lancers with I guess Danny's Dad.
  19. Yes Frank...we were all young then....you were in Jr corps for a while before Sun as most of us were. I remember when you were a young kid in the line with us in 82? Just before I moved to French horn. I do remember late in that 83 season listening to you thinking.. wow this kids gettin good.....LOL.... We need a new Hobby.....maybe bowling....we could do that into our 80's....LOL... JC Sun
  20. Larry Visconti started with the corps in 1974 and has marched every year since. Although a snare for most of it he has filled in wherever the cops has needed someone including Bass drum, Pit and this year SOPRANO! He is 10 years older than me and looks YOUNGER than I do....%###@#**%#....LOL.... That gives him 33 years....I think he has missed a total of 3 months, if that, throughout this time. (excluding the corps 2 inactive years) I have those 2 plus 98 99 and last year off. Was retired but back for .....just ONE more time. ...LOL.... PS...never say never ....and never throw out your bucks...LOL.... JC Sun
  21. Sunrisers 1980 - Present....that's 27 years John Clougher Sunrisers
  22. Sunrisers won the DCA brass trophy. I had to say that because the actual trophy is in my garage.
  23. What a great memory! Yes I was at the DCA's and it was my first year on the field with a Jr. corps. I had gone to DC shows regularly before that since I could walk because my dad was a fan. He had a unique view where he liked em all but really enjoyed the rebels. I was sitting a couple of seats away from Fran that night. What a show and a great year for DCA. Sky just blew me away with Little Ol NY, Lucretia, The Jam and the all time favorite elks P. ...Sun's Hi de Ho with the whistle high (Screech) solo's, Hurcs Impossible Dream medley, Rochester with the Superstar stuff we were all into then, Cabs had to overcome all that and did with a sterling and strong perf. I thought Sky won but I went there as a sky fan. There were recordings out during the season so we got to listen to these corps on an album before championships. Loved that sky show but also loved the cabs show. I tape recorded an exibition they(Cabs) did at Manville's home show in 71 and listened to it till the tape litterally wore out. I think Matadors were on first and remember those screamming sops! Liked the Kingsmen's Orange flags. It must have made a great impression on all that were there because what followed for me was 35 straight years of drum corps with only 4 off for good behaivior. Fran Haring also devoted the next 35 years....Arientano too. I wonder if that year spawned the highest number of "Lifers" in drum corps....we may never know...LOL... 25. To all Rochester Crusaders. Thanks for cheering us on as we went on Saturday night. It was well received and we appriciated it. Ya'll sounded great from the start gate and your Corps is a real class act! Lot's of cool people from other corps out there! John Clougher S.H.Crusaders 71-80 Sunrisers 80 - present
