  1. There is a clip of the 84 show on Regiment's website. I've got the DVD from that year. Lots of great performances.....and wild hair :)
  2. Either way...it looks like they just got done unclogging an airplane toilet with that blue dyed water :)
  3. Ok....so I was watching Phantom Regiment 84 last night (great show btw) ....but one nagging question has been bothering me all night: WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THOSE HIDEOUS BLUE ARMS....and were they punished severely? :)
  4. (The ones I never saw live...but have grown to love) Star of Indiana Velvet Knights (The ones I was blessed to see) Les Etoiles Tarheel Sun Phantom Legion General Butler Vagabonds Marquis
  5. OOOOOHHHH!!!! Gellio you gonna take that? He punked you (instigator)
  6. The irony in this statement, is that I and many others that I've talked with who aren't turned on by the Cadets this year find the baton twirler the most entertaining part of the show. But yes, controversy in the dictionary has a picture of the Cadets next to it.
  7. While I don't agree with that particular poster's reasoning for this Anti-Cadets movement ..... It is widely known that the better you are, the more people hate you. (Ask the NY Yankees and Jeff Gordon) Alot of people DO in fact hate the Blue Devils with their 11 rings! I used to hate them when I was a Bando because I was a big Cadets fan, but now that I've been "educated" BD is one of my favorites. I don't have a favorite corps now, because I try to like every show and every corps.
  8. Actually, IMO, I don't believe anyone hates the Cadets. They are just the innocent bystanders in the endless Hopkins v. Corps Traditionalists debate. Cadets are loved by MANY MANY people, however, some of Hopkins ideas for the future of drumcorps have made him very unpopular with alot of drumcorps fans. I think dragging the kids into it is unfair, but what can you do? As for why people were sitting on their hands last night. I don't speak for everyone, but my opinion, and the opinions of people I've talked with all conclude that this year's Cadets show just isn't their best effort. It's my least favorite Cadets show since 88. I still LOVE the Cadets though, and Osama could be their director and that wouldn't change. (well...maybe)
  9. Are there usually a fair amount of tickets being sold on the street? I hate to use scalpers, but I'm not sitting in the endzone either.
  10. I'd be happy to show here 87 show, but since I don't own that one yet....alas I cannot. The 1987 DVD is one of the next on my list, so trust I will! BTW, on behalf of all people who never got a chance to see VK in their heyday.....thank you. Big applause from me!
  11. Speaking of VK.....I showed my girlfriend VK 89 and 92 the other night. She was like...."WTF" at first, but by the time we got to the 92 show she was laughing pretty hard. I don't think the idea of goofing off during a show had ever crossed her mind, but they are some of my favorite shows. Later on that night, I watched the 88 and 90 show and had a few questions... 1990.... Why the white Converse instead of the red? and right at the end of the show....the DM looks over at Side A and points at something..but they don't show what and the corps falls down. What'd I miss?
  12. I know of someone in 2000 who was overage that marched a "fan favorite" corps.
  13. Ok, I just watched this show again and I think it just takes time, but I LOVE it now. Was this show just totally underrated or ahead of its time? I can understand why it didn't win, there was some stout competition that year, but 6th place seems VERY VERY low to me. My only gripe is that there was not enough "movement" in Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs. Seems like the whole end of the show was sort of standing around. Other than that, WOW! Thoughts?
  14. Well...it is early June. I'm sure BD will be on fire with whatever they have by the end of the season. Devils could play country music and I'd still go nuts for them.
  15. Believe it or not, the wildest bus I've ever been on wasn't in Senior corps, or Division 1, but the small D3 corps I marched with in 98. The funny thing was that I was the oldest member in the corps at 18. Go figure. Crown's hornline bus wasn't that much fun in 99. We had a few nights were "unmentionable" things happened (Lord, the trip home from Madison was a night to remember) but for the most part, we slept. I can't imagine having enough energy for anything else.
  16. Remembrance Scouts 90 and 98 (I prefer the 98 version)
  17. Rookies... Well I'm glad you are proud of your show at least
  18. 1997 madison scouts.... the 2 pirates sword fighting on the rack as it rotates and one of the pirates sword bends in half...oops ;)
  19. I think the 89 show was structured better and had more emotional impact. 88 I feel is only better in people's minds because that is the one they saw first! I used to be this way about Madison 96 being my favorite over Madison 95. I saw 96 first so I liked it better. go figure.
  20. 1990 Blue Devils - Tommy Good show, just not jazz, and I think that hurt BD. If they did that show today, they'd win with it! By the way....don't you think their drum major that year looked like Ian Ziering who played Steve on Beverly Hills 90210? :)
