  1. It should also be noted that there was another senior circuit between the end of RCA and the beginning of ICA... That senior circuit was the AIDC... I don't remember what the AIDC stool for, but the audience participated in the voting for the winner.... The program book had a page listing the participating drumcorps, you listed your placement, passed the votes into the aisle , they were collected, tallied, and a winner was chosen.... I remember Westernport Blue Angel, Sharpsburg Cadets, Tyrone Gaurd, new re-assurangence of the Yankee Rebels, Pittsburgh Rockets.... I attended a show outside of Cumberland, Md in the late 1970s... I don't think the orginization lasted more than a year or two, but this is also an addition to the info you are seeking.... Pgh Guy Bari 2 Extraordinaire John G
  2. I think I still have a T-shirt from that show....It would be SUPER if they reconsidered holding the show again... A lot of memories/friendship from the Cumberland drumcorps shows.... Pgh Guy Bari 2 John G
  3. I think the Bushwackers have made an excellent choice for their program coordinator...Adam is a very dedicated and motivated individual and will be very productive for the drumcorps.... Congrats Adams... Pgh Guy Bari 2 Extraordinaire John G
  4. Steel City Ambassadors drumcorps on the field with a chance to compete for the top prize one more time... Pgh Guy Bari 2 John G
  5. Hey all, Up again for a HUGE weekend with the Steel City Ambassadors Alumni this Sunday July 10th....The drumcorps has just purchased additional "G" horns and everyone is welcome to come play with the corps....We are looking for a few more percussion players to bring the drumcorps in balance with the horn line...New music to be passed out to the members...Come and enjoy a Sunday of drumcorps/friends @ the Trafford Polish club.... Pgh Guy Bari 2 Extraordinaire John G
  6. There are no other DCA class A drumcorps competing @ the show tonight....As for the weekend - check the DCA website for the schedule...
  7. We need a ride for 14 people from Beaver county....Anyone coming from the north/west who are willing to help with a ride please contact Steel City.... Hoping to get those 70+ brass players (per Cooley) @ a rehearsal real soon, maybe this weekend...
  8. Hey everyone, There was a get together yesterday June 5th in the local Pittsburgh area that was something to behold for many drumcorps fans...A re-organizational meeting and massive rehearsal for any/all buglers, past and present, who want to be a part of a re-start for Steel City Ambassadors.... We always say "I just want to do this drumcorps thing "ONE MORE TIME" before we sit back and let the newbees carry on the tradition.... The call went out two weeks ago about the reorganization get together and the Pgh. drumcorps family responded with a rehearsal of apx 54/57 brass players, 15 or so percussion, and a start-up colorguard....Another apx. 15/18 brass players expressed an interest but were not able to attend the get together....Friendly smiling faces from four/five states were in attendance and the local drumcorp support was overwhelming....Past members were bringing younger family members to play with dad/mom, the SCA bus queen made an entrance with friends from Ohio, Olde Phartes (like me) came out of the woodwork to play drumcorps with friends.....What a fun time it is going to be in Pittsburgh with the start-up WOW factor that is present in the local community....I can now line off one more thing from my bucket list and really plan on enjoying this new upcoming ride... 14. Hey Steve, "I used them in Steel City in the 80's. I loved 'em! I had #####in' players too!...OK maybe one #####. But she sure was fun!" I can remember a couple of super players....Miss Debbie, Pat Cavanaugh, Marcee Zaragoza, Lee Wasson, Don Fine, Denny Smith just to mention a few.... You are right, we had some players in that section in the 80's... Lets do it again.... Enjoy the music... Pgh Guy Bari 2 John G
  15. Hey Keith, With all due respect, if you are referring to DCI, as your post indicates, there are already regional competitions established within that circuit....With the possibility of changes coming within DCI, who knows what the makeup of the junior circuit will be in 2011/2012...If that is the case then this post should be in the DCI/junior forums.... If your post is about the senior DCA circuit, the voting drumcorps have to deceide about expanding and add regions before they can have competitions... Are there enough drumcorps within the midwest/southern regions to have regional shows...You could probably have an eastern regional but to what end if you don't have other (west/midwest/south) regionals.... IMO..It's unlikely that the eastern drumcorps will travel to the other areas to compete...I think it is to early to discuss regionals within DCA.... Pgh Guy Bari 2 John G
  16. Get well soon, Dom...Thoughts and prayers for you and your family... John G
  17. I think there will be 11 Open Class drumcorps performing @ DCA finals Sunday evening.... 18. Hey all, I really had a great time in Jamestown @ the Buglers' Holiday drumcorps show this past Saturday....The friendlyness and hospitality of Carl Vulla and his staff of workers are second to none when it becomes time to run a drumcorps contest.... After the rain ended, the crowd began filing into the stands for the evening filled with drumcorps.... In exhibition were the newly formed Western New York Alumni drumcorps.... The music was great and just knowing that three friends were performing with the corps was super....Outstanding job guys and thanks for bringing back some memories.... The competition began within Class A when Florida Sun Devils entered the field for their northern debut and the welcome from the local crowd....You could tell from the opening statement that the corps has worked extremely hard on music and drill.... The visual presentation could use a little help but the overall program was very entertaining....Welcome to DCA and thank you for coming to Jamestown... The Danville White Sabres were the next corps on the field....I enjoyed the overall presentation but IMHO the preformance levels of the drumcorps has to increase for them to obtain the excellence required by management/staff.... Individual quality within all sections by the performers needs to be addressed for this show to make the evening in Rochester.... From Carolina we welcomed Gold to the local arena and it was very noticable that the visual presentation was to be enhanced by the colorful guard members uniforms.... The music ensemble presented a very enjoyable program with all segments adding their specialty....The last 1/3 of the show need some cleaning but I'm sure our Southern drumcorps friends will be up to the task.... Gold for Gold with a winning presentaions in Jamestown.... The Statesmen performance tonight was one of the best I have seen from this drumcorps in a few years.... The overall showmenship relayed by the members of this drumcorps in simply amazing.... Music charts that require levels of appreciation by all at the show, program chartings that challenge each/every member and an Oz book that is very enjoyable to view by the spectators....The drumcorps will hold the sole deceiding factor in where they place within the DCA ranks in September.... Great job everyone.... Our Midwestern representative, Minnesota Brass, came to Jamestown to overwhelm the crowd and by all means they did just that with their presentation of Caravan.... I totally enjoyed the dedication and focus of this drumcorps as the music/drill/visuals unfolded before your eyes and the intensity just kept coming and coming.... Guard was outstanding and the musical awareness was fabulous.... You leave Jamestown with a remerbence of a show to be reckoned with @ finals.... Erie T-Birds did a closing exhibition for their many followers in the stands this evening....Jeff and Pattys' solo work this evening was awesome and the percussion sections performance was great.... Thanks.... I'm not a numbers guy and I have nothing but the best to wish to all the drumcorps that were at the show tonight.... Enjoy the music....See everyone @ DCA finals.... Respectfully submitted: John G.

  22. Re: #372......Do tell, does anyone know the origin of the moniker held by this drum corps friend of ours?
