  1. Here's all the scientific analysis you need.....when was the last time a G corps won a championship?
  2. Actually, having seen some video of MBI's show, this years visual program seems much more substansive than in previous season's. In their 2011 championship program, I was pretty much a lone wolf in my assertions that their visual program was no where near that of the Buccanneers. It remains to be seen what this years results will be, but IMO Minnesota's 2013 visual program is a quantum leap for them.
  3. There are very few things that are certain, however Empire will NOT be coming in second...THIS is certain.
  4. All corps start the prelims with a score of 0 no matter what Reading post this weekend. I just think that if Reading post the top score of the year this weekend, that going on last in prelims is going to make the difference. It will be the same as it's been all year.
  5. Great weather is forecast for the entire weekend! Looks like Bucs will post a score. You think they will be at least .25 over last weekend?
  6. Do you mean the ex-cop who marched a total of half a season with Sun?
  7. All this fuss about which guard, Cabs or Bucs, is better? Question...if the Cabs guard does win in Annapolis...so what?
  8. Sure, in a perfect world, the best performance at prelims would come out on top, regardless of the performance order. But prelims/finals, more that any other show usually becomes more about ranking and numbers management. Case in point....does anyone really believe that the 6th place corps in DCA finals truly is deserving of a 90+ score?
  9. Spot on! And at no time was this more true than DCA prelims/finals in 2011. Add to this the frenzy of the crowd, anticipating that someone...ANYONE...would end the Bucs string at finals. It all made for a perfect storm....no pun intended.
  10. True dat, however last position in prelims has historically proven not to be a bad thing.
  11. Corect me if I am wrong, but the 94.15 posted by MBI will be their last scoring/ranking opportunity before championships, while the Bucs will be scored one last time at the Big Sounds show. Figure Bucs score to go up likely by a point or so, which would put them in the final position at prelims. Unless of course they get rained out.....
  12. And are you saying that if we went back to the old starting line, no pit or tympani, inspections or neon bespeckled, spandexed guard, that DCA would pack the house?
  13. In fact, I think DCA will give a corps 50 points for just getting off the bus...especially in August! A five point bonus if the corps gets off the bus in the rain. Cincinatti Tradition - 55.0
  14. My point exactly! You just do not see DCA corps today making THOSE kinds of changes. Mostly minor stuff...cosmetic stuff, and lots of cleaning. 2 examples from yesteryear? Sky would bring back Elks Parade, ad nauseum, and Sun in '79 would change whole segments of drill seemingly every week. Hard to give any example from today's DCA 'cause it seems, maybe just to me, that what comes off the press in the beginning of the season is pretty much what the corps will work with all season, and what we will see come DCA finals. Not the fault of the corps or staffs...just the realistic results of a drastically shortened season, and some corps being not complete in terms of show or membership on day one. p.s. Looking back, perhaps you misunderstood my initial posting. I was trying to point out that BITD major changes were commonplace. Today...not so much. p.s.s Not sure why you got a negative mark, but I fixed this injustice...LOL!
  15. Bottom line is, from my POV, most corps do not make major changes like BITD. Sure, they will add or replace sections of drill, add body movements, props, guest soloist, etc., but I really don't see anyone making major, in season changes such as chucking an entire closer or opener and inserting entirely new music or drill. A lot of corps spend the month or August just trying to insert new bodies! And if any corps had ANY changes to make that they felt would enhance their position, why wait 'till August or DCA finals...especially if the changes are purely cosmetic. Break those bad boys out, and enhance your position in July, when your being slotted. It's a short season folks!
  16. Again, if you bother to read the previous post carefully, you would see that my comment was in response to FPonzo's post where HE said, "FloridaSun hates the Cabs". In fact, I believe that the word "hate" was written in all caps! Now I follow these boards somewhat, and I have seen NO evidence that FloridaSun has ANY agenda against ANYONE. The only way I could see FPonzo having this opinion is the fact that FloridaSun predicted the Statesmen to beat the Cabs in 2 separate prediction threads. Hence my response. Now if someone were to say that I hate the Cabs, I would have to plead the fifth!
  17. If you read the previous post in this thread carefully, you would see that I did not incinuate that FloridaSun hates the Cabs. I was simply replying to a post and actually trying to defend Mr. Sun!
  18. And Florida Sun hates the Cabs just because he seems to always predict your team behind Empire? Hey, Empire may indeed catch the Cabs at some point this season. Empire may even come out ahead at finals...but who cares! Bottom line is, Empire will be packing up their marbles and going home for good at season's end, while Cabs will be sticking around, being a competitive force. All respect to the Cabs for this! AND, whether you are predicted first, second, fifth or tenth, neither Empire OR Cabs is winning any championships this year.
  19. LOL! But as long as achievement and excellence rule the day, all is good! Because I'm sure we would all agree that achievement and excellence have always been the criteria by which our activity is judged. And if that's NOT the case, I'll put the Mummers out on the field and beat ya'll by ten points!
  20. Well, I'm glad someone else said it first! However...I concur.
  21. Perhaps the thing that upsets folks most about predictions is the fact that they are so predictable.
  22. And if we didn't discuss predictions, numbers and outcomes, what would we discuss...our grandchildren? And something tells me that if it were THEIR corps being predicted in first place, with a five point spread, the prognosticators wouldn't seem so venomous.
