  1. It was a great show!! Our (ES) last run through before the show was for CV, and they did one for us too!!! It was great meeting everyone as we shared dinner before the show also Sidenote: Erie Thunderbirds did the exhibition for the show... first time I ever had to double (actually triple) duty. Empire (euph), Erie (lead sop), Empire victory concert Talk about change in embouchere (not really but slightly) in about 30 min total!
  2. You forgot that they would only turn up the singing, talking, and pit... at times - thats all you can hear anyway! (and its bound to get worse)
  3. Part of the reason is the same "sickness" that was happening to Erie until Lake Erie Thunder started up.... We Traveled to march, and just wanted to march a Top 10 group You have to give your local groups a chance, and dont overpass a group a few hours away to travel another 2 or 3 hours!
  4. Great rehearsal everyone! Hornline played through the show Come check us out.. we wont disappoint you!
  5. Rehearsal today, East HS in Erie, Pennsylvania at 11 am!
  6. Sunday's getting closer and closer! Get of the fence and come check us out!
  7. Yes Mike, Cant wait to put the product out on the field. Come join us in our quest to surprise DCA!
  8. Just a side note, we do have someone coming from Columbus, OH to travel to Lake Erie Thunder! He is more than willing in joining a carpool! If you would like information, you can contact me.
  9. The price of them!! The price is just rediculous, and I have heard that its near impossible to find a trumpet mouthpiece made from stainless.. and I believe LOUD trumpets ones arent either. EDIT: Realized that I didnt say that I never played on just because I couldnt afford one, probably could have if I didnt own a mouthpiece for Contra, euph, mello, and a few for Soprano.
  10. My vote is for nothing... coming from another corps that is hatless, I personally love not wearing anything!
  11. I miss it already... ####...#### - fun weekends with Chez!
  12. Camp is in a little over one week, opening in ALL sections... COME CHECK US OUT!
  13. Congrats MCL, Mark is a committed guy.. and writes some good stuff too!
  14. LOL, Im trying to find people to ride WITH you! SO, help Victor out... catch a ride with him from the Columbus Area!
  15. Heard them in the lot, as they were warming up next to us. After watching the show, wasnt upset they took brass over us (one that I actually could FINALLY understand)
  16. Lake Erie Thunder will hold their 5th winter camp on Sunday March 29th from 11am-5pm at East High School. 17. You are complaining about the weather and how you SHOULDNT of been on the field. But I know that you WOULD have STILL be complaining to THIS day about how you didn't get to perform in 2006 if they said "no prelims, top 10 open class and top 3 class A make finals from their August scores. Now imagine how that would sit? Probably not too good. Everyone had to perform in that weather. And yes, even me, and my parents sat in the stands for most of the shows(next to Judges upstairs.) Granted, I didn't like the weather... but its no reason to complain about a city. No one was REALLY injured or lost their life because of it. Lets just play a small game and imagine how these 2 scenarios would sit. 1.) Midwest, somewhere like Oklahoma City, Dallas Area, or something like that. A tornado hits the city during the middle of prelims and a direct hit on the stadium. Thousands of fans and even corps waiting to go onto the field/warm up are killed or injured very seriously. 2.) West, San Fransisco etc. A earthquake during Finals during Retreat before the announce 2nd place. Again, many fans are hurt because of the collapse of the stadium. Fire breaks out and some corps members are injured trying to save anyone possible. Now would you blame that on the City and DCA? I think not... so lets no blame them for something the have NO control over, or something that you would complain about anyway. PS- Hope nothing like this ever happens, I dont want to seem like I put a curse on drum corps, I was just making a statement to prove a point. Edited because I can't spell.
  18. Has happened to Empire and others since most groups switch to the flat horns
  19. Any on in G is my favorite! Cant wait.. Sunday's gonna be fun...
  20. 2nd place high brass... I agree, I wish we would of told him line is full looking back at it. But you would NEVER have some of the great mello players if you NEVER moved anyone from soprano to mello. (Who's concert instrument is mellophonium... not very many at all)
  21. Dundee show was always fun Patrick! Wish I could be there! Good luck, and have fun!
  22. The only reason I played Contra in 06. I took one for the team. We needed another Contra player and had a mello player that marched Cadets back in the day that wanted into the line. I will admit that it IS harder to move around to the different horns, but at the same time... I got very good at the different horns that I played. Lead Mello is VERY different from Lead Soprano... VERY. Lead sop has greater range, while Mello has to do with the moving parts etc etc. The only reason that I moved around was because of the need to fill out the line. If you are trying to say that you cant play both Lead sop and Lead mello, thats where I beg to differ. You can learn the horn and get VERY GOOD at playing everything on it. Personally, the only horn I wasn't VERY GOOD at was Contra, but that was just to my short time playing it. When playing Euph... I was very good playing it, Lead mello - played upper split after being slowly moved up from second that year. I have been playing Soprano since 04, started on second.. and just got a chance in Alumni to play lead.. and Thats where I am. No longer am I able to play low brass because of back issues, because I would LOVE to pick up my euph again... but my heart will always be in the upper brass, whether its mello or soprano... it doesn't matter either way.
