  1. Music rights. Probably didn't get the rights for sale on dvd, but got the rights to stream live performances.
  2. Reference Name, Reference Contact Information, Relationship to you ex: Joe Smith Example-email@email.org 555-121-2121 I was a guard technician under the direction of Joe Smith. We worked together at XYZ school for 3 years.
  3. I believe they still exist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haddon_Heights_High_School
  4. I'm having a lot of difficulty understanding what you are trying to say, but it seems as though you're asking if you should include any work you did, even if you didn't get paid or if you didn't last the whole season. Yes, that is what a resume is for-- include all work you've done, and make sure that someone where you worked will confirm that you did the work.
  5. We just want to have fun watching guard videos! Originally we were going to plan this as a fundraiser, but were concerned about having people pay to watch the videos, so we decided to make it free. Luckily, we got the space donated by a local business! Will let you know how it goes :-)
  6. Get instructional staff from local high schools to tell their former students about your program. If you have one or two on staff, that helps also. Go to the local guard circuit meetings and let them know about your group as well.
  7. Just remember, anyone who knows what they're doing when hiring an instructor won't really care who you marched under as much as they will care what you can produce as an instructor and whether your style will fit with their program. If you fit and you can produce, they're more likely to keep you on rather than just have you do a temporary gig.
  8. It's generally about the shape and spacing more than the "dot" in winterguard. Although some guards use markers at the front of the floor set every 4 to 8 steps apart, it really doesn't help for front-to-back spacing. It's more about spatial awareness in relation to others on the floor and the distance from the edge of the floor to your spot.
  9. Very helpful information! I agree! Have someone help you edit it if you have trouble with that kind of stuff. As for formats -- if you have Microsoft Office (Word), there are resume templates in there that you can use. Just select one of those. If not, you can just Google "RESUME Help" and find lots of great info.
  10. What kind of help do you need?
  11. TCGC: Last year there were 33 scholastic Regional A, 20 Scholastic AAA, 18 Scholastic AA, 21 Scholastic A. SFWGA: Last year 11 Scholastic B, 5 JV (this is a new class that didn't exist when I lived there), 7 Scholastic A, 3 National A.
  12. In SFWGA (Florida) there were 3 A classes: "B" , "A", and "National A" National A being guards that plan to attend, or do indeed attend WGI Finals. Then of course there was Regional A. So technically you might call that "4" A classes. In TCGC there are 4 classes also: "Regional A", "AAA", "AA", and "A". In both circuits Regional A had separate sheets from the other A classes. All the other groups used WGI "A" class sheets. By the way, this was just for Scholastic groups. Independent Groups were either Independent A/Cadet or A class, with no further breakdown in classification. In season promotions seem to happen very rarely, although there are guidelines for them. Same for "demotions" as well. No matter what you decide, people will be unhappy. Do what is best for the MAJORITY of the groups and to help your circuit grow stronger.
  13. My vote for season 5 winner: Jeanine (sp?) Brandon has been strong all season, but I feel Jeanine has done a lot more to achieve her spot in the finals, and Brandon has just relied on his ability and not really stretched himself too much.
  14. I just voted, and it turns out I was right! of course, i already knew who won because I saw the scores on Sunday :-/ does that count?
  15. I thought you could get just one performance on a DVD if you wanted? Hmm.
  16. Use the wall technique for hand placement (as mentioned earlier in the thread). Although poor catching can be a result of poor toss technique, it's a separate entity unto itself. Make sure they are "smacking" the gun, not just letting it drop into their hands or reaching up to grab it from the middle of a rotation.
  17. There are tons of show from my local circuit when I was in HS that I would love to see again, but the option to view video/DVD of those performances wasn't available then and it isn't available now. Some of the guards went to WGI finals, but some didn't. Guess those shows are lost forever. I'm just glad this option exists at all!
  18. Got the DVD's yesterday. Already watched most of Independent A! :-)
  19. Many of the judges might not though. They enjoy the break from drum corps/marching band as well. If you choose to do something like this during the winter season, it's best to do it as a "senior" corps with members who are over the age of 23. That way you won't be "stealing" potential members from guards/drumlines. Start doing some exhibitions and see how it goes from there. You'll need to find out if there's an interest before trying to recruit other groups. Another idea- attend the local winterguard/drumline circuit meetings to solicit opinions. You're better off asking people in your local area than you are asking in DCP from people all around the world. Start small, then see what happens from there! *edited for typos
  20. It could possibly be done virtually. Multiple cameras, etc.
  21. Is this for guard use (uniform) or just to practice? If it's just for practice, or you are ok with Black gloves, go to any Wal Mart, Target, or other department store with a sports department (or a sporting goods store) and purchase padded fingerless weightlifting/biking gloves. You can usually get them a few dollars cheaper than buying from catalogs. Play-it-again sports and other pre-owned sporting goods stores usually carry them too. They also have more colorful choices, if you want to try something different. If you're looking for "nude" or "tan gloves" you'll probably need the catalogs/websites, as they are nearly impossible to find in stores. As for where-- any company that sells guard/marching band supplies will probably also sell guard gloves: Algy, A Dream Come True, Fred J. Miller, Totes Plus, etc.
  22. bump. Next rehearsal June 6. We picked up 4 at last camp, but looking to build! http://austinstars.org
