  5. Excellent observation, a list of open class corps no longer active would also serve to highlight the reality of the current state of DCA. p.s. This post is not a criticism of anyone or anything. Just pointing out something that surprised me that ouy won't on the DCA website
  6. Why was the crowd subdued? The answer is simple- The entertainment didn’t move the people…..Not all you individuals but “the crowd” “the people”. I read/listen to most of the posts/discussion on these forums, example. How do we recruit? How do we grow the base? How do we fix the perception of DCA? Why was the crowd subdued? And the best, all the self proclaimed brain trust can come up with is the “weather” or educated (old) fans. I really don’t think my opinion should be considered because I no longer have any skin in the game and am not ready to jump back in. (as an aside I did go to several corps rehearsals in Rochester and that sound does still get to me deep inside.) This is a public forum, and a good dose of reality might be good for the activity.
  7. Second... Yes, they do have a lot of rehearsal time this week, but not completely rehearsal... they are on their way to Niagara Falls Canada today and after a long rehearsal Tomorrow will take Weds. off too and go to Darien Lake theme park (former 6 flags)... Thurs. Fri. and Sat. are all drum corps and they are REALLY looking forward to it... Tom, Where will the Scouts be rehearsing while in Rochester?
  8. Allen, This the same special prize you gave when you were a big time Rochester Crusader?
  9. I don't care what you nice folks call me or even what you think. The point is the over indulgence did happen, I was there, I know the people that did it, (little brother) I saw them do it. Some of them are currently very active in the activity as prominent instructors or leaders, I don't plan to call them out, but the truth is the truth.
  10. Nice try boys, but the no body is denying the truth!!!
  11. The reasons for the Crusader purge were not Nobel, and the purpose of the Phoenix wasn't Nobel either, but thats another topic. The reason Phoenix burned out, was the "party" and by that I mean more then just a few beers. The indulgence of any available inebriate before, during and after public performance's lead to behavior that was an embarrassment to anyone associated with the activity. Most of the members and many of the posters of this topic were part of that scene and were usually to high to even realize they had made a fool of themselves, but were always ready to fight. The DCP forum is a place to be positive so I better stop now.
  12. Hey Tom, I don't trust you... The stadium is ground zero in some of the worst that humanity can be. The "city" of Rochester is in trouble and getting worse. They are currently breaking the budget with a program called "zero tolerance" attempting to stem the tide of violence. However the daily shootings, stabbings, and assault's continue. As a matter of fact, recently just a short distance from the stadium, a group of women attacked, beat, stabbed, and murdered another woman in the middle of an intersection, in broad daylight, with 40 people watching, and the police have yet been able to make an arrest. "Common sense" ???? OK.....
