Please vote at Chase Community Giving
thatonekid replied to Kansasfan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I still greatly disagree with the idea that drum corps should be my first choice of where I want charity money to go to. Do I want to see corps do well and financially prosper? Yes. But if Chase bank has 5,000,000 to give, why should that money first be given to a drum corps as opposed to a charity/ organization focused on funding research for pediatric disorders or cancers. Or charities for those in third world countries? I may be the debbie downer with this, but I feel like there are way more important ways to use a large sum of money other than drum corps. -
Madison's Entire Staff Now In Place

I can only speak on Brandt Murphy, or Cajun as we call him. I dont really see him being the plate tech, seeing as how...from my knowledge, he's never done anything with plates. This is probably because he marched bari/ euph for a long time with Madison and was the horn sgt. in 2005. I had him as a tech in 2008 and he's an amazing one at that. Extremely knowledgable from a visual standpoint, as well as philosophically what it means to be a true Madison Scout. I can't give enough praise for him and what kind of tech he is. -
This is more than just continuity on the brass side. As someone who was taught by Dr. Williams for 2 years, I can personally say that he contributed more than just teaching brass. He taught everyone in the corps how to truly be a Madison Scout, and how to accept nothing less than perfection always. I certainly look to him as one of my mentors, and I know anyone in the percussion and color guard section will feel the same way. He's done so much for this corps, and current members and recent alumni hold him in a very high regard.

OFFICIAL 2009 Madison Scouts Thread

I'm glad our bassline won. I sat a couple row behind them on the bus, and definitely lost a few hours of sleep from them practicing, so they better have won! -

What are you waiting for?
thatonekid replied to BlooContraGuy's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Waiting to have my last everydays. Waiting to have my last first show. Waiting to essentially have my last everything. Boo aging out! But seriously, i'm waiting to see girls for the first time after going all of everydays without seeing any (excluding staff and volunteers) -
Ba ZING!!!!! But seriously, I know at Madison we are indeed very possessive of our corps jackets. Not just with who wears it, but everything about it. PS- when it comes to your corps jacket, never let someone dry clean it. The dirt shows your years!

I think early 80's Madison would give you a ball park look as to what we'd look like now with white pants. And creepy mustaches...and huge glasses... -
It's what we do.

Because of a bowl game conflicting with my schedule, I was unable to attend this camp, but boy do I wish I was there! I heard great great things from camp and am on cloud 9 with what is being told to me by my brothers. And a public congratulations to Jeff Cleveland for being named drum major! He's an awesome guy who, in my eyes, will do nothing but succeed in this role. And he's from Texas, so what more could you ever want!?

Dont know if anyone has posted yet, but the visual staff has been added to the staff website. What does everyone think? http://www.madisonscouts.org/Madison%20Scouts/Staff.html Personally, I'm pretty stinkin stoked about this. I'll hopefully get to meet all these guys in the winter months. But overall, seems like a stout staff.

Spirit Announces 2009 Brass Staff

I've marched under pretty much that entire staff back in 06 (Waymire, Boerma, Putnam, Melrose, Seltzer, Garlinger, etc.) They're just awesome in all forms. I've said this once and I'll say it again, I elect Mark Waymire to be the caption head of life. -
