  1. Glassmen have a great show this year but just lacking something. I think Spirit will finish above them again tonight.
  2. Was able to drive down this past weekend for their camp and was VERY impressed. I can't wait to see the full show on the field this summer.
  3. I was a bluestars fan in 2006 when they made the move back up but then didn't personally care for their shows after that until this past year! Amazing I must say! My three Fav this year was BlueStars, Crown, Phantom, and Bluecoats.
  4. I agree totally! I'm a Spirit '05 Alum and it's always great to read post like this from someone else's point of view. Thank you for a great post cadetzoid! Let's Go Baby Blue!
  5. Just watched the show on the Fan Network and man, Blue Stars deserves some props this year! Keep up the good work!
  6. Agree fully! Can't wait to see the production this summer. This summer, to me, seems like there are going to be some very good shows to see from the show concepts that are being released from each corps this year. Maybe it's going to be an exciting year for drum corps!
  7. Sounds really cool. I've always enjoyed Boston so this should be something cool to add to the pile. Can't wait to see it this summer!
  8. Totally agree with this! Like a lot of people have said, maybe Jupiter have changed their horns but like the person that I agreeded with earlier, their horns have always been crap to me. I hope that Phantom can prove most of us all wrong about this switch and maybe Jupiter can finally prove that they mean business about QUALITY horns. Hmmm, we will have to wait and see.
  9. Spirit Drum & Bugle Corps Spirit is pleased to welcome new Visual Caption Head John Scruggs to lead the corps' visual instruction program. John joins the Spirit staff after having served as the Visual Caption Head at the Madison Scouts where he also spent six years on the visual staff and four years as a marching member. He is currently the Director of Bands for the Humboldt City Schools in Humboldt, Tennessee where he conducts the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and the Pride Marching Band. “I am very happy John will be joining our already outstanding 2009 staff at Spirit, says Joel Vincent, Executive Director of Spirit. I am excited for our membership as I believe they are going to really enjoy John’s personality.” He is a graduate of Austin Peay State University receiving his Bachelor of Music Education. He holds professional memberships in the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, MENC, Tennessee Music Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha. “I’m excited about the opportunity to be involved with such a great drum corps, with so much history. It is going to be great working with the staff in place at Spirit. I’m energized and ready for the 2009 season with the Spirit family,” says Scruggs.
  10. What constitutes a successful return rate for the corps from year to year? Is it sheer numbers of vets from one year to the next, quality within those numbers or something else. Every year it seems that there are some vets that venture to "greener" pastures each season, which is fine, but I am curious to know the reason for their not returning to the corps for successive years. Is it talent level of the previous years members, is it education, is it the staff, is it the administration, is it placement, is it equipment, is it food, is it facilities, is it experience you gained from the summer, or sheer interest in another version of the activity. Just seeing what everyone thinks.
