  1. Ummm ...you are aware that BK was pretty darn good last year right? They were on a different level than Madison. Colts were too. That is askin a lot for Madison to leap both those groups. Not to mention the fact that a bunch of groups around Madison are going to be a whole lot better this year.....Top 8 is hardly a lock. I would say top 12 isnt a lock either.
  2. He is still wth Seattle as far as I know. Hopefully this means he will have more time to be on the road with them....Sully is the man!
  3. Since an official announcment has not been they would be a rumors...and we cant post rumors on here pm me if you would like
  4. There are at least three that I know of that ar going to make this place go freakin nuts. 2 of them are from the same corps. There are a few more from some of the non-finalist corps that are going to be some pretty big news as well.
  5. Not at all. Ramiro is a smart guy and is a great hire for someone like Madison....he should be a good fit
  6. I am sorry, but that is ridiculous. Nobody can really predict where people are going to finish with any level of accuracy, and to think otherwise is foolish. You were closer with Madison than most others picked...so what. You got one right, or I should say you got one close to right. I am sorry but that does not make you master prognosticator. All we can predict with any level of accracy is if a group is going to be better worse or about the same than the previous year and even then it is still a bit of a crapshoot. The problem is we never now ECACTLY how much better or worse any given group is going to be than the previous year. Sometimes we get to the beginning of the season and can't even tell. In 1997, SCV looked like they were not even going to make finals at the beginning of the season becuase they were so bad. By the end they darn near won DCI. Nobody in their right mind would have picked that even 2 months prior. It is like these sports analysist that pick a preseason top 25 in college football and then by the end of the season the poll looks almost nothing like it did in the beginning. For example: Where did Michigan get picked this preseason? 5th. By the second week they were not even in the top 25, and by the third week they didnt even recieve a single vote from the same people that put them 5th 2 weeks earlier. Those guys get paid tons of money to analyze and predict who is going to be where when the season is over, and even they didnt see that one coming. These guy even go and watch these teams practice and know the strengths and weaknesses of nearly every player and coach on every team and they still get things wrong all the time....but somehow, with very little information about all of the other drum corps in DCI you are already able to guess who is going to finish where.....sure you are.
  7. If you think that is big news just wait for some of the bombs that are going to drop in the next few weeks
  8. It is funny how many people have missed the point of this thread.... it says alot
  9. As far as I know, he was not around very much with BD when they were winning a bunch. Maybe 2 or 3 times on tour, a couple of days during all days, and a camp or two. It does not matter that much. With technology the way it is now, they can easily send him videos and mp3's of the show for him to get plenty of input. It would be like he was on tour even if he only showed up a few times during the summer. This is a good move by madison. If they can now put together thefinal pieces of the instructional puzzle they will be fine. I would not put them instantly back in finals yet....only becuase everyone else is so good too....but you never know
  10. The answer is: Not very much People dont realize this, but not many people want to judge DCI. You are away from your family or work usually for days at a time while judging what amounts ot glorifed marching band. You also have instructors in your face no matter what kind of call you make. If you put a corps that usually wins a caption down that night (no matter how well deserved) than you are going to have to deal with that even more so....all that while getting paid a pretty dismal amount. I know people that were some of the worst middle school and high school band directors you have ever seen that judge DCI. Some of them you even see in finals week. I have also seen people judging percussion at shows even though they are a brass player. Long story short is the level of judging in the activity is mediorce at best, and that is becauce DCI does not put enough emphasis on getting good people to judge.
  11. Totally agree. On top of that they need to find some good staff in those areas of need (if they feel there are areas of need that is) and stick with them. There has been so much staff turnover in that corps the past 10 years it is nuts. In the past 10 years they have made humongous wholesale changes to some of those music captions way too many times (like the brass staff, for example). That is why some of those captions are scoring where they are in my opnion. Some of the staff has not been given enough time to reap the benefits of their hard work. I think many of the people that thy have had in the past (like for example their current brass staff) are of a pretty high quality, but that will not matter if they dont enough time to develop their program. It is like watching these football team that hire and fire a coach after one or two years with a program before they have had a chance to build a winner...winning programs are not build over night. SCV is a great drum corps. In my opinion, the greatest drum corps in the history of the activity. They remind me of sports teams like Kentucky Basketball or Notre Dame football. You know they are going to be back.....it is just a matter of putting all the pieces together and giving them the time to develop.
  12. Dude, I just checked out the pioneer website and you just got called out. In a very nice way, Roman is telling you to step and and help out or shut your mouth....the ball is in your court now partner
  13. I LOVE the cadets uniforms. Hands down the best uniforms in DCI...... no mater what year they have had the best looking ones. I am not even a fan of the corps either. The uniforms are justso classy...
  14. That would be really cool....I am sure it would look like some kind of alien space suit, but it is worth a shot.
  15. How did they not take care of business? Easy. They should have NEVER been in 21st place to begin with! That was a drum corps that was in finals the year before. Dropping from 9th place to 15th (where they were at the end of the season) much less 21st (like they were in the beginning of the season) is a pretty clear sign that some things are clearly not being taken care of. My question is why did they have to re-write the show on tour? The answer is simple: They did not take care of business to begin with and design a show that did not have to be re-written. Also. Many corps have a lot of members coming back. So, it really is a question of what kind of product the staff is going to put out there and how well they are going to teach it. If last year is any indication of how they put together a show I would hope they have plans on making some additions to their design staff.
  16. I honestly doubt they will even be allowed to tour this year by DCI
  17. Why will scouts have the biggest move up? Their staff did not take care of bussines last year, so what makes it a lock that they will this coming year?
