no. but i've seen a few youtube videos, and i was very surprised that anybody thought those bands were good. now, go ahead and tell me i should save my judgment until i can see those bands live even though that would change absolutely nothing.

as far as how much you're getting for your money, it's boa, easily. as far as what it is that you're going to be seeing, dci wins by a landslide. the best boa bands can rival corps like pacific crest (if you took out the woodwinds...), but you couldn't even reach into finals, much less the level of the corps contending for the title, with any high school band, at all, ever.

responding from the position of a percussionist: crown needs to revamp their percussion program before i'll care about them. yeah, they placed fourth this year, which makes me uncomfortable about saying this, but... i don't know, they just sound bad to me. the drums themselves are tuned poorly and sound gross, the players seem like they're playing with a harsh sound, and the writing just sounds like a whole bunch of notes rather than a part of the music (EDIT: sometimes; othertimes, i actually like the writing, but as a whole their parts just aren't on the same level as the perennial top lines). i know there are good percussionists in that line, but it just doesn't sound good to me. as far as their visual program: they need to bring in someone to eliminate their individual mistakes. watch any youtube video with crown where anything visual is involved, and there will be an individual mistake, on every rep, on every video. i don't know where that's coming from, but it needs to go.

that story is made even funnier by the fact that it involved a quebecois speaking poor english with a french accent... while gesticulating... and using a completely proper term in a completely vulgar statement. my hat's off to you :)

right... i already said that. the thing is, the guy said, "1989 to 2009 is twenty years," which is patently incorrect, the way it is phrased. if we do it your way then we get the "20 years after 89" thing. which wouldn't be wrong, it's simply a shift in perspective, like i said.
