  1. Well, I'm going to go with the "stand corrected" on this one... Maybe conservatism isn't that bad...
  2. Please share your reasoning. I don't really want to continue because now we're debating semantics and not drum corps.
  3. There is a difference betweeen conservation and the need for the activity to remain truthful to its roots.
  4. The reason this stuff is such a big deal is because it is the exact opposite to what "we*" want the activity to be. We're voicing our complaints for the same reason that people vote for the presidential elections.
  5. Funny... You used two tenses in your post so I can't figure out what you're trying to say!
  6. Hey, bud, just so you know this thread is superfluous. We've been talking about it on other threads.
  7. Sorry dude, I lost the thoroughness in my reading in attempt to respond quickly. I was already trying to think of a respone while I was reading the post.
  8. Here, Here! Yet more reasons to add to my arsenal! More distance between the activities pointed out.
  9. Here, here. Like I've said before, DCI is DCI. BOA is BOA. I enjoy both for what they are and would like to keep it that way.
  10. While I understand what you're saying, you're wrong. What you're saying is like saying "there is more to baseball than the MLB"! There is but the MLB is the face of baseball.
  11. Believe me dude, I could if I would. Unfortunately, I'm not of an age that allows me to do this. I hate to be one of those fans that sits there and gripes about what's happening but, nothing else is practical. Plus, one corps; come on. I think that this requires the action of the community as a whole.
  12. In fact, I do. We as a community need to share our feelings and ideas with DCI. This is our activity. Why should it be something we don't like? PS If I'm coming off as hostile, I'm not trying to.
  13. You're right. I should just roll over and let the activity I love become something me and a lot of other people don't want it to be. Maybe I'll take up knitting...
  14. The use of a grand piano, while a logistical nightmare, would be acceptable. As long as no microphones are used.
  15. Thanks for the challenge! 1. There exists 2 seperate orginazations for marching band and drum corps (DCI and BOA) 2. In marching band, woodwinds are allowed. In drum corps, there is no such thing (yet ) 3. Drum corps is not sponsored by schools. 4. Drum corps allows kids within the general age range of 13-22 to participate. Marching band is restricted to the confines of high school. Thats all I can think of for now. Btw, if you're talking about the "cross-polination" of the two activites, I believe that it has been taken way to far! Thanks, George. What was once a beautiful, pure experience will now be ruined by mics on a baritone and synths in the pit. At least the sound board thing got shot down. Bottom line: BOA should be BOA. DCI should be DCI. There are ways for the activity to grow without implementing electronics and the such. Then again, maybe I'm crazy!
  16. Straight leg. It all comes down to one phrase: Cross counts.
  17. There is a conpetition aspect that makes Corps exciting; I don't think you'd want to take that away.
  18. All of their business is still conducted in LaCrosse. From what I understand, the move to Indy is purely for facility reasons.
  19. Wow, why would you put Scouts in 15th? Colts? Though I do think that the Cavies will be pretty rockin'.
