  1. I read that book a couple years ago! I want to read it again now and also the other book the author wrote. This is a fascinating topic, oldbaritone...
  2. LisaLisaMoMeesa - you crack me up! Guizeppe - awesome review and photos! Question: Renegades pit is not on the sideline... Has this ever been done before?
  3. Rats. If only I was of age ... I would join VK! Looking forward to seeing your show!
  4. Awesome! Thanks for the link--I would have missed the article otherwise. I can't wait to see/hear her!
  5. So, here's another question... With the long distances mentioned in this thread, do any of you bypass other corps' sites to get to your own?
  6. You bring up some good points... Though I must say that I'm totally cool with my kids watching over my shoulder when I'm on DCP than when I'm on, say, MySpace... DCP is tame compared to what kids get exposed to these days, IMHO. How do we strike a balance between protecting our kids and sheltering them from the world? A rhetorical question--no need to reply. Just sayin...
  7. This thread goes to show how amazingly dedicated drum corps people are! What other activity is out there that goes the distance? Maybe some sports? (Not talking pro sports, but more along the lines of a hobby.) I suppose living in the East Coast and Midwest, if you're crossing state lines and making your way through another state or two, you could feel like you're going somewhere. If you're in Texas and California, you could drive the same distances and still be in the same state and feel like you're not getting anywhere! As an example, I would be amazed at friends who live in Indianapolis and who would regularly make a driving trip to Washington D.C. just for the weekend! It didn't seem like it was a big deal to them, except maybe for now that the gas prices have been inflated so much…
  8. Aww... Doncha hate it when stuff like that happens? It sure doesn't sound intentional at all. It's not the first time this kind of thing happens, and it probably won't be the last... Why do suppose that is? Wind conditions, or something? (Just curious.) A reminder to everyone to drive safely and all that good stuff... Wow! Kudos to Bridgemen!
  9. Hear, hear! Back in January, summer seemed so far away… Now it's here! Yippee! Best wishes to everyone!!!!
  10. Really? I don't know him personally, but it seems to me that he does what he does to promote the activity and get people involved and excited to participate. I don't mean to argue with you but simply provide another point of view... There are many ways to look at things.
  11. Bummer.......... Wait, I know! What if you took the bones out so that it's no longer crunchy?
  12. What Peggly had to say was food for thought… And, I do agree with what drumlaw80 has to say as well… Perhaps going slightly off topic here…but kinda/sorta to illustrate a point… My husband and I have disagreements over what our children can watch on TV. I'm okay with most cartoons, some of which my husband gets furious at me for allowing our kids to see. Yet he is oblivious to the fact that when he watches sports and encourages our boys to watch alongside him, there are commercials for alcoholic drinks (often with scantily-clad women) and other things like, for example, Cialis. I just about died from laughter when I overheard my oldest son asking my husband, "Dad, what's erec---- dysfunction?"
