  1. i said nothing about the show being judged on applause, i just commented on madison fans being a bit overboard on fracked high notes and dirty drill. i don't disagree with the placements, i just commented on the fans. the only thing i said was that visually crossmen were better and the sheets proved that. jesus... so much for making an observation.
  2. /no i didn't spellcheck, and could care less on this forum. but it's ok, i have 2 degrees, so i must be good at something. so much for replying to the TOPIC and getting nailed on spelling. and since your defending your favorite corps, i guess what i said was right, and you had nothing to say but i failed at spelling... hmm.
  3. i'll bite. the first time i saw anything all season was the week of allentown and semifinals night. So since im a drill junkie, i am all about clean, readable forms and GE. if anyone noticed, the first 4 minutes (until the moon rotating circle thing, which even though was cool, was dirty) of the show for the colts was scatter drill. Not 1 form lasted more than 2-3 sets. HOW can you clean that?!?! and people said crossmen parekd and barked too much back in the day.... not any more. Crossmen had the hardest drill out of all 3 corps and honestly visually crossmen was the cleanest both in feet and guard. also i observed that when madison was preforming semi's night, people were obnoxiously clapping for every little thing even if it was dirty. It was like claping for the name Madison not for the product. You can be die hard fans/alumni, but i don't clap for drity weather its my fav corps or not. what happened with the scores happened, but just because you (OP) thought that someone was more entertaining that someone, doesn't mean shhh on the sheets. jus sayin....
  4. thanks for your thoughts! keep pushin crossmen! 2 weeks till DCI east!
  5. my corp(s) uses Corpsdata http://trigonroad.com/cd/ info@trigonroad.com hope this helps!
  6. crossmen 00 and 01 - AG is the man and the new caption head scv - 2001?... in the ballad. crossmen 04 ballad, both the beginning soli and the soloist. some late 90's PR and cadets stuff, lots to mention
  7. SCV 2000 crossmen 2004, 2007... due to their placement they usually don't get the credit but these two were pretty cool ballads. cadets and phantom usually every other year do something cool. bluecoats 02 just the few i can think of off the top of my head.
  8. i agree with the crossmen show, i think it was voted best ballad on DCP in 04. i agree w/ crown, just not the BEST in dci ever.
  9. heard the same thing.... apparently some staff member was defending the corps when FANS were saying something that didn't need to be said. yikes.
  10. QUOTE: Crossmen: .........Boo to the broadcast team for showing tons of footage of the '78 capes, and in the process COMPLETELY missing the '07 capes they were hyping. I really wanted to see that! BStars. Oh please, oh please, get solid blue pants next year. QUOTE i agree completly.... i have heard about the capes all summer and i miss it the ONLY chance i get to see it. and as much as i really didn't get into BS show... they probably would have done better had they had solid pants. I think the top is fine just get all navy pants. I saw atleast 3 ticks just because their body facing was different than the person on either side of them. otherwise i enjoyed the theater... Crossmen, BD, Cavies and crown AND Jersey Surf got the biggest cheers in my theater. and i won't comment on the field lining thing, other than it was a much needed restroom break for half the theater.
  11. i agree. crossmen got no love this year. they did a really hard show, tributes to the past and marched their butts off and for all they have been thought with the move AND starting spring training a week later than everyone, 15th place by 6 tenths for now is not bad at all. Props to the members and staff!!! i hope all that can return do - staff and members. i am excited for next season already. go bones.
  12. i agree with the above comments and i'll add this... EVERY member spends atleast a thousand dollars or more to participate in this activity. Gives up their summer to attempt to perfect 11 minutes of music with 134 or less other people. The rehearse hundreds of hours, sleep on gym floors and probably work harder than they have ever worked for anything. and for YOU to boo that takes some bal_s. You don't have to like the show, heck there are probably some members that don't like the show there marching. BUT you have to atleast respect that they all work hard to do the show they are given. Thank god your not going to finals, don't want you to ruin the DVD or CD for anyone.
  13. thanks for the review. and as i said before in the BD web team thread... thanks for giving a FANS opinion for the whole show and not just bashing or picking apart a corps. its nice to read a review and know that you enjoyed the show instead of trying to be the judge.
  14. Butting in to say thanks to the BD web team for doing this. I didn't order the webcast for the obvious problems i have heard about, but its nice to know that you guys do this and can fill us east coasters in. also KUDOS for giving a POSITIVE opinion about what you saw and liked. SO many reviewers tend to pick corps apart instead of enjoying the show. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your updates. :)
  15. it actually is musical... the pit is playing some really cool stuff there which is actually themes from all 4 movements of the show. and i would agree with your cadets comment and the end of BD's ballad and also crossmen's ballad
  16. even though crossmen score wasn't great tonight.... they are currently in 13th place.... by .04 not too shabby. next week is gonna be VERY intresting.
  17. true. i enjoyed full retreat. you REALLY got to know some corps just by listening and watching what they did in and out of the block.... cadets take the cake for retreat ettiquite (sp). and i rememer one corps who enjoyed using their horn carry position to an "advantage" to #### off other corps by 'accidentally' knocking into you when in single file lines heading to the field... if that doesn't test your disicipline, then i don't know what else does... other then not flinching when at set and a mammoth bug lands on your arm.
  18. i've only seen about half of D1 this season SO based on who i saw.... SCV, cadets and crossmen. MS wrote a really tough drill book for crossmen, much harder than anything they have marched since 02ish. SCV is always doing an fun visual book. and cadets always impress me visually. and BD, for honorable mention...... they just make everything they do look easy, but i know they are running across the field at times.
  19. surprised i haven't seen much about the center for SCV this season. i think she's been there since 05 and she has def earned her spot. great chops.
  20. true. but teaching this technique is easy if you understand the biomechanics of the body. For example, the straight leg technique for backward marching is easier to think about when you say "only use the muscles that extend the leg" which is the glutes and hamstrings. once the students learn the muscles you have to use to march a certain technique, they can feel themselves doing the technique right or wrong, allowing them to personalize what they do. obviously this can be used to teach everything from posture to marching and horn/ drum carriage. our activity is a sport, and our bodies are a tool. Knowing our body and muscles will make us move more efficiently.
  21. crossmen's technique is the same as the cadets. (4 members of the vis staff are cadets alum. ) also i think glassmen have or had a similar technique. as a visual instructor, i like this technique. It is pretty simple to teach and it the easiest to define and clean. obviously it is a little hard to get used to marching this way, but when it clicks... it looks great.
  22. funny you should say indiana... they are the largest state school in pa. (not including psu/pitt) and they have a great music program. at one time i think 2002-2003, i heard there were 20+ students from IUP marching jr. corps many in the top 8 in D1 at that time. just some random knowledge for ya. :)
