From what I read, all but only a couple of Crown's percussionists were new to Crown this year. I imagine there were a lot of first year Crown ageouts in their percussion section.

I don't know how that's possible this year unless they win everything other than percussion. The spread in percussion alone will likely cost them about .3 off the top, and if they lose brass it will likely be another .2-.3. I may eat my words, though!

While I don't disagree with you, it may be important to note that there are other units in the pageantry arts that have used it in the past ~5 years, including Paramount winterguard.

Is it just me, or has Davila been late getting to the field on multiple drum features tonight? Bluecoats were just about wrapped up with their feature by the time she went to check it out, and I've seen that multiple other times tonight.

2023 is the year of female center snares and high brass soloists, and I'm here for it. Representation matters. Somewhere out there, there is the next generation of female drum corps performers seeing themselves in these positions in the future. Let's ####### go.

How do you even begin to decide between Cadets and Mandies for 5th? Can we just have a tie for 2nd and a tie for 5th this year?

Cadets soloist has been nailing that all season, but this was the most impeccable version I've heard her play yet. My arms are full of goosebumps right now.

I actually preferred the Cadets uni without the socks. I'm in the minority, I'm sure, but I absolutely loved these unis all season.

This Mandarins show really is one of the most beautifully constructed pieces of art on the field this summer. Kudos to this design team. Members absolutely rose to the challenge.

The front I will concede, but the post I responded to only mentioned battery. When including front I think Cavies take it by a mile this year. Battery alone? I see them equal with one other this year that has a harder book.

Finally caught up. I just don't see how BD loses this year.

I so wish Bloo filled that negative space in the first instance of the voiceover, even if just with the bells from the front ensemble continuing all the way up until the bird chirping. It just isn't very impactful for me nor do I feel it's a good transition. The rest of the show turned into a real banger, though.

The Blue Stars guard never quite caught up to the demand this year. At least from my untrained eyes.
