I suspect that there are going to be some corps in Rochester that are going to ask where did this corps come from.

To my knowledge there are 4 corps not coming to Rochester this year because of this rule. The rule is bad.

So someone help me out with scores to the hour.I just found this thread and do not have the all access pass.

What you have here is Madison Scout who are a part of the fraternity of champions who once were.They will always be in that fraternity and the judges will always give them a bit more credit than maybe they deserve.Just maybe. At quarterfinals they were pretty dirty visually.The horn line still can rock the house.The score they got was fair and may have only mildly jacked up. If they don't make finals this year I would expect them to make it next year and years after that.

Last year was my first year at DCA Rochester. I saw plenty of handicap parking near the stadium and lots of wheel chair accessible spots empty inside the 40 yard lines.

Were you the drum major for 04?If so As for drum majors being part of the show. Phantom and BD are using the Drum Majors when a second drum major or a backfield drum major is not needed.I have always thought that a drum Major standing on the podium back field for extended period of times was a waste of talent that could be used somewhere else in the show.

I put this thread up to get a idea to see what everyone's opinions are about narration after Hopkins comments last night.I am in agreement with you.I think its something that corps have tried and has not worked out to their advantage and they are moving onto something else.

They finished what place last year? 7th place with a score of 92+? Year before that? 7th with a score of 86+? 05 a 10th place finish with a score of 84+ Dca judging at championships has been pretty consistent over the years.I could see Hurricanes moving up a singe spot this year.Maybe even two spots but a top three slot?Not going to happen.Saying that Hurricanes will be a top 3 contender is almost as bold of a statement that someone made about Cru being in the top 4 this year.

Agreed. As for my comment about the Kilties. A good corps director with the experience and track record for putting together a progressive organization in many cases can and will lend credibility to the organization while a director without a track record might and will get scrutinized more. I have read many recap's where the judge realizes that the elements of the show are there only to find the members are not executing it properly.The judges know that Scott knows how to teach these kids to march based on his history but the kids are not grasping the execution. As to my comment about the Bushwackers.I probably could have chose my words a bit more careful.Lets face it though.They are struggling this year with numbers and execution.I am not sure they are even worthy of a top 10 finish at this point in the season but they will be there because of their track record. Recaps tell the story.

I hope Hopkins announcement last night that this show was not working and that they were going to slow things down next year was a hint that they are going to do away with narration for 09. Then Bluecoats mic was dead at the beginning of the show which left a dead spot in the show. None of the top 3 are using narration other than Phantom.Phantoms narration is pretty cool and works well into the show. So could this be the end of narration as we know it?

Phantom has a really good shot at the title this season.Its all in what they can do in the next few days to clean it up.

I want the in your face stuff and I like a bit of the "artsy"stuff mixed in. What I cannot stand is a show that is nothing but "artsy".Back in the day music was reachable.Corps would take songs that were popular and make shows that became classics.Look at Ice Castles,The Rose,McArthur Park and many more.Those were songs that you left humming when you walked out of the stadium and was humming 6 months after the season was done.I cannot think of a show in the last few years that I hummed 6 months after the season was done. A few of the corps like Phantom can even take "artsy" to a whole new level and make it entertaining. Now days you almost have to be a band director or a corps director to appreciate the shows.

Recaps and history go a long way.
