  1. You are very much allowed to have your own opinion, never said you weren't. However, if you are truly an Encore Mallets endorser I would suggest you not, not put them at the top of your list. Bad for artist relations.
  2. Weren't you in the honor guard for Dream and not in the front ensemble? I know numerous people on their board of directors and staff that have confirmed that for me. Why do you try and spread such lies? Attending one camp and trying out for the front ensemble, does not mean you were in the front ensemble.
  3. How many email addresses do you need? I'm gonna start calling you Cybil from now on.
  4. Elizabeth, I thought you were endorsed by Encore Mallets? I'm sure those folks wouldn't appreciate you putting VF above them. Or is that another one of the many lies you've tried to spread over the years? Out of morbid curiosity, what is it that you like about VF mallets? I'll be curious to know your answer because in conversations we've had in the past, you've constantly praised IP mallets and Pro-Mark mallets ahead of VF. Or can you not remember your lies anymore?
  5. Could you narrow that down a little? I'm hearing brass instruments, cymbal bells, cymbals, possibly some Zil-bels, concert bass, field bass.
  6. Snares tend to break more than basses. Plus, they would have to carry 5 extra basses everywhere. Tenors, the worst that happens is a broken head typically. That can be changed quick enough.
  7. It is a backup drum. If a head blows, or some other malfunction (tension post somehow snaps, tension rod breaks), they often won't have time to replace the broken part. The backup drum is kept in tune just like the other drums so all they have to do is take it out of the bag/case, put it on the player and keep going.
  8. Jim was never the snare tech for SCV. He has been the caption head or arranger for them.
  9. I'm starting to think that rack's are becoming cliche. Not quite Appalachian Spring, or West Side Story cliche, but close.
  10. We get it, you don't like VDL or Tapspace. Personally, I've never been blown away with the Garritan library. They are good for the price, but there are far better ones out there. I am curious to see what they do for the marching percussion.
  11. I've used Finale since version 3.0. About 3 years ago I bought Sibelius 3. It took me about 1 day to be up to the speed I was on Finale 2003. Sibelius was just that easy to pick up. Wanna change time signature...press "T". Wanna change key signature...press "Q". Boom, no 2 or 3 dialog boxes to go through. Press a button and voila! I still use Finale 2006 for a couple of projects, but Sibelius 4 is my primary program. Everyone I talk to has started switching over to Sibelius because it is quicker and easier to pick up.
  12. The new Pearl snares aren't wrapped in Kevlar. They are wrapped in carbon fiber. The wood shell for snares and tenors is African mahogany. The basses are still made of maple. There is carbon fiber wrap on both sides. The drums project amazingly well. They aren't any lighter because the hardware still weighs the same. The price is a bit high though. About $1100 for a snare. Rumor has it that a certain Div I corps will be using them this summer. Don't look for them to be available anytime soon in the US though.
  13. Pyle percussion makes a stand similar to the piano stands, but it is designed for basses and is taller. they are pretty cheap I believe.
  14. Why would they switch to Yamaha? Jim has been a Pearl endorser for years and Murray just recently became an official endorser.
  15. That would be a whale call that you're referring to. SCV uses them all the time with their field cymbals
  16. I think it was '01 when PR used two 13's but I though one of them was an indoor 13 and the other was a regular 13. I could be wrong though.
  17. Or it could be they stay with Yamaha if the deal is with the Madison Drum and Bugle Corps association and not just the Scouts. If it's the whole organization, I don't see them changing. Not that I see them changing anyway. When Magic went from Dynasty to Pearl, that was more because of Hannum acting as a consultant and hating the Dynasty stuff.
  18. Ryan, IM me at drumcorpbc on AIM and I can answer your questions if you still have any.
  19. The Max heads are a combination of mylar and kevlar. The Gold Series Evan's heads are all kevlar as far as I can tell.
  20. I just got a pair from VF the other day. I really like them. They are just a little shorter than the Vega Tenor sticks. They seem to have a good weight to them. I don't have my drums where I'm living now so I don't know how they feel on drums, but they feel great on a pad so far. When I get my drums up here, I'll give you an update. By they way, I'm not saying this because I endorse VF, I'm saying it because I like the sticks.
