  1. I'm hoping the weather will cooperate... The skies are gray where I am in Lakewood (about 5 miles southwest of Invesco Field).
  2. Hmmm.... I'm not going to give an exact predictions as to scores/placements, but I don't think the highest score will go above an 88.0 I'm probably WAY off.
  3. I believe the webcast will start at 6:00 PM Mountain Time (the show starts at 6:30). That is 8 Eastern time. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that, as I will be at the show! ;) Hopefully the rain holds out...
  4. I'm really excited! I wish HNC and Carolina Crown were here this year. The last time they made the trek out to Denver was in 2007. I wonder if that is a permanent change in their touring, or they are just trying some different stuff the past two years?
  5. Not only is it the title of this thread, the Denver Diner is a great little place in Denver! Anyone going to show should check it out afterward, it's on Colfax. Anyways, this is shaping up to be a great show! I'm excited. 6. Are you freaking kidding me with this post? Yes, it is great that the Phantom Regiment won a title last year, but how is the fact that they are sitting at fifth place right now something to try and ruffle our emotions with? If anything, that proves that this year is extremely competitive, seemingly more-so than years past! How would I feel if I had a child that was marching corps right now and was sitting at fifth place? I would feel exactly the same as if I had a child that was marching a corps that was at 15th place, or 20th place, or in Open Class. I would feel so excited and blessed that my kid had the opportunity to do something that not many people are able to do in this day an age. I would feel worried knowing that they are traveling around the country by bus and would be relieved every time I hear they get to their next housing site. I would feel proud when they come to my hometown and I get to see my kid, along with 149 other young people, do something that NO individual can do by him/herself. On DCP, we get so caught up in the scores. It's such a natural instinct, though, so it makes sense as to why we do it. Hell, I even get caught up some days. However, if you think the thought that is on the minds the most frequently of corps parents is the score or placement, then you better do some re-evaluating, man. It's easy for us to talk about scores all day and all night, since that is the extent of our drum corps investment at this given moment in time. But for those people/families that are invested in a corps this summer through a child/brother/sister/girlfriend/boyfriend/friend that is marching, I truly think we degrade THEIR experience when we say that the first thing they are worried about is scores/placements.

  8. The rain is rolling into the Denver area now- that's where I am. I'm hoping the Windsor area (about 40 miles north of Denver) is faring slightly better! Hopefully the Denver show tomorrow will be totally dry...
  9. Ooooooor what about the lesbians and gay guys? ;)
  10. I believe all the information you need is in this thread: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=126601
  11. I'll just repeat myself and say that any year with shirtless guys. Too bad those are slightly more rare than the revealing girl uniforms.
  12. I was quite worried, too! The rain lately has been ridiculous, especially the days where it just starts to downpour. I hope we don't get rain!
  13. One of my favorite shows in general. I could give you my opinions on where I think they should have placed, but it is in the past so it is not worth it. ;)
  14. If I recall correctly, the Colts and the Blue Knights will be meeting for the first time this Friday in Windsor, CO for the Windsor edition of "Drums Along the Rockies". Who do you think will come out on top? Why?
  15. Yes. FINALLY someone by my house. Too bad no corps come to Bear Creek!
  16. I doubt Holy Name lost ~.6 due to members falling. It's about recovery. Oh, and when did Carolina Crown fans assume this was easy?
  17. I still don't see it as a "reality check". I think most corps are expecting their scores to drop now that we add in the full panel.
  18. You're right, instead of being more than two points ahead of the Holy Name Cadets, they are only one. What a reality check. ;) I'm kidding, of course. I just think it's funny how the scores tightened a bit and it's supposed to be a "reality check".
  19. I love Carolina Crown, but I voted for the Blue Devils. It will be close.
  20. You're right, because at some point everyone starts realizing that Drum Corps isn't about the experience, but it is about the ring you get if you win, and if you don't win, then your summer was meaningless.
  21. Because it is about the experience for the corps members more than the end result.
  22. I didn't know I had given my philosophy on composing! I thought I only was touching on a concept that many composers utilize.
