  1. Innovation. The judges are rewarding it and the Cadets are ignoring it. West Side Story and Toy Souldier are no Constantly Risking Absurdity and Through a Glass Darkly in terms of pushing the limits of what is possible in Drum Corps today. Until they come up with new ideas and think outside the box, they will never return to the top. (now watch them come back next season and prove me wrong ) just my opinion. Cali.
  2. I don't get it...did I say something wrong? Sounds logical to me...but then again, I'm the one who said it... Cali
  3. Yes. Yes. Yes. Cali P.S. 'great minds...' geluf....
  4. I can pretty much tune everyone out...so other people clapping is not an issue for me. The only issue I have is when someone around me is TALKING through the music. Now THAT is annoying. Cali. Avoid the Clap -- Jimmy Dugan
  5. The probability does not decrease with each successive win. Actually, if anything the odds get even better for BD as with every championship they win, they draw even greater talent to Concord who hope to win a ring. Plus their Corps know HOW to win championships...how many current corps members out there have experience with winning championships? Aside from Phantom '08ers, and few stragglers here and there...not many. The Blue Devils have a phenominal staff...they have amazing talent...they know what the judges are looking for...they have the FORMULA for success. Let me put it this way...if we were to handicap the corps (like in Sports betting) what would the odds be for Pioneer to win the Championship? And then how about Academy? (their fans would say "pretty good" )...now how about the Cadets?...what maybe 8-1?....now what about Blue Devils?....based on the past performances they would probably be 1-1 or...1-3...something in that neighborhood. Until someone proves that they can beat BD consistantly, BD will always be the preseason favorite. Your original post said that the odds were against them, which is incorrect. And IF I was going to bet on a Corps to win it all in 2011, it would be the Blue Devils and it would be a big bet...and I'd love to find someone to bet against them. Yup, that would be sweet (not really looking for a bet, just saying...). Cali.
  6. Um...the odds are against them to what? three-peat?...well, they don't have to win "three in a row", at this point they only have to win "one" in a row (they've already bagged the first two). In my opinion, the odds are very much IN their favor to win in 2011. And anyone who bets against them has not been watching the past four years. Cali.
  7. Less sound, obviously...but less to clean visually...I think its somewhat of a wash. BDB is cleaner this year (with more size) than any other corps in OC. Plus their visual package is better designed (in my opinion)...the quality of design won't change regardless of size. Oh, and BDB beat Teal in '08 with a smaller corps as well...its only been the past two years before they got big. and the best part is I got to see a roster earlier this year...this is a very young corps. IF they can stay intact, next year should be amazing. So to answer your question, no...not in my opinion. Cali.
  8. Oregon Crusaders...92.75....congrats on the great score and a fine season. Cali.
  9. lol...it don't matter magic...it was a compliment...to bdb... Cali.
  10. lol...yeah, they're pretty good... BDB keeps getting better and better every year. Already can't wait to see what they bring next year. Congrats Blue Devils B. Cali.
  11. WOW...great job Spartans. Very nice performance...pretty clean and entertaining. oh, and that GUARD! awesome. Cali.
  12. Doesn't matter, I have a feeling they will both be back in finals for years to come...regardless of who shows up. Cali.
  13. Eddie and Orchdork...sent ya PM's... Cali.
  14. Man, the person on the other end of the phone talks LOUD. lol Cali.
  15. I dunno...sound was way better about an hour ago...I'm hearing massive echo now. bummer. Cali.
  16. ok, ok...the show started out a little slow, but picked up steam throughout. That closer kind of reminded me of Madison '95. Not to that level, mind you, but similar screaming horns and energy. Congrats Genesis. Cali. P.S. Whats with all the echo...echo..echo...?
  17. a little hard to hear because of the echo inside the stadium (thru my speakers) but that sounded like a pretty nice drum feature by Genesis. This is my first time seeing them...pretty good. Cali.
  18. Yeah...nice job Forte! I can really see a bright future for this Corps. Become a little more aggressive with the drill and increase the membership and you guys will be a force to be reckoned with in a year or two... also, props to the guard. really nice effort this year. Cali.
  19. Lets see, I've traveled to several shows this summer...bought the FN subscription...bought Corps' T-Shirt and hat...paid for the media subscription...and attended the Theater viewings. And it was worth...every...single...cent... Everyone has a decision on how to spend their time and money...but for me, I thought this summer has been amazing. I've been watching drum corps since '76 and its never ceased to amaze me. now, back to the Open Class Semi's on the FN. Cali.
  20. naw, there's only one Calistar...(and only one Plan9 for that fact ) Cali.
  21. nice! Racine! good energy...enjoyed that. Cali.
