  1. This year I have seen the show live, on fan network and last night in a theatre in St Louis. Every show has given me goosebumps and tears. My son, an 08 & 09 sop watched it in Columbia with the same reaction. Both theatres were full, both theatres were quiet, with polite applause - till the Men of Madison stepped on the field. Both theatres erupted in cheers beforehand and both theatres gave a standing ovation at the end of their show. If the Scouts' objective is to please the numerous drum corps fans around the country who support this activity, they have succeeded. If the Scouts' objective is to impress the judges -not so much....... When the corps below increased by 4 and 5 points, and BK increased by a couple and the Scouts stayed flat many questions come to mind. For my own sanity, and since I really do not understand how judges interperet and score each corp, I choose to step back and just enjoy the effort and talent these young men put on the field night after night. Every member of every corp works hard to give us the best show they possibly can, and I thank you all for this year's entertainment. Thank you Madison Scouts for a season and a job well done. Now bring down the house these next two nights.
  2. LOL!! We actually made it back to St Louis without any further incidents, thank you. We did however have a "boot" on two of our wheels when we got back to the car and had to pay $50 to get them off. Thanks for the hospitality Atlanta! That being said, I'm glad we decided on Friday to make the drive to Atlanta and see the changes firsthand. Fan Network is not anywhere near as good as live. I really like what I saw, brass sound is there for sure (be proud brassy mom). they have some cleaning to do for sure - but Scout Fans - do not count this group of talented young men out - they intend to be there on finals night. If they don't make it - it will not be for lack of effort. I spoke with a DCI official who said that there were 6,000 in the seats when the Scouts were on, and almost the entire lower level where I was gave a SO. Many around me who had seen the show before really like the changes. GO SCOUTS - PUSH ON MEN
  3. Today they are at Ashville HS in (drum roll, please) Ashville, AL
  4. Most likely they will stay and rehearse at the school, that's what they did in S A.
  5. 2009 Madison Scouts - You Inspire Me I had the priviledge and honor of traveling with the Scouts from San Antonio to Murray KY. In all my 54 years I have never been more tired, more stiff and sore from sleeping on the Suvee truck and gym floors. But I also have never been more excited about what I saw in a bunch of young men on a mission. Never once did I hear any corp member complain, every member I talked with was upbeat and determined to be their best - for us. More than once I saw neccesity be the mother of invention (Team Tarp). Last night we fed this crew in the pouring rain at Murray State. The rain hit hard at the exact moment for dinner, taking down our setup and moving was impossible. - then I watched one volunteer after another pop up unbrellas and cover the food table so the corp and staff could have dry food - BRILLIANT!! Oh - I no longer have use of arm movement above my head - but I think that will come back eventually! Team Tarp was a group of about 16 corp members that went through the line with a tarp over their heads - and sat on the wet ground in same mannor to eat a tasty meal of chicken and pork tenderloin that was to die for! Tracie, I cannot wait to see your pics. To the loyal fans of Madison Scouts - these guys are busting their butts to fine tune this show and give you their very best, they can use your very best support in return, and they know you will be behind them coming down the home stretch. To the staff and volunteers, thank you for allowing me to be a part of this family, it meant a lot to me to be able to help out in some small way on my sons age out tour. A special thanks to Bill L. and Tracie, and all your friends that gave of your southern hospitality so these guys could have a great meal. To Charlie, Mike, Chef Dave, Loretta, Anita, Martin, Jeff, Lee, Claire, Dan, Sandy, Stanley, Andrew and anyone else who has volunteered for these guys this season - THANK YOU and see you in Indy. One last note - I sat 10 rows up on the fifty yard line for the Scouts San Antonio show and had my face ripped off like the guy sitting in the Memorex commercial. AWSOME!!! GO SCOUTS!!! POW!! BYBO
  6. Thank you to Alumni Rob Ovalle for bringing the corp pizza last night, and to Alumni Mike Allen for the ice cold Gaterade for everyone! My son was sure glad for that. Linda - you talked me into volunteering: I'm heading down to help cook from San Antonio to Murray KY - so if anyone else wants to throw in a meal and save the cooks I'd sure apreciate it! I for one am looking forward to the legendary BBQ hosted by Bill L.
  7. Thank God the 2009 Madison Scouts think this "Official Madison Scouts" thread is a joke. Watch this vid from fan network and tell me what is wrong with THEIR ATTITUDE and where is THEIR SWAGGER (criticism from previous posts that also diss the show, the uni's the . ...... ) The Scouts Attitude and Swagger are there people, you just can't see it because you live in the fantasy world of what ifs, could ifs should ifs......blah, blah, blah. http://v2.thefannetwork.org/?network_id=1&...ode=viralAnyone want to start a new "official" thread that supports this years Scouts? GO SCOUTS!!! POW! BYBO!
  8. Since there is a 45 minute delay please allow me the opportunity to say: GO SCOUTS!!!POW!BYBO !
  9. All these "shoulda, coulda, woulda's" won't change anything. The only fact is this: we have what we have, period. Either support todays' Men of Madison or move on. Stop beating a dead horse! POW! GO SCOUTS!
  10. Hey Bill - glad you made it back home from Michigan City. I meant to ask you when we were talking about our boys and college- what school did you get your MR from? I can't wait to see the changes (I pray it is not the close that madalumni suggested!) Also want to say Thanks for all you and your wife do for our young men. Mark
  11. This is great - I was going to post after Michigan City. During Cadets show last night the guy behing me has his phone ring. What's he do - shut off? Silent?? Nope - he answered it and talked to somebody about how the drywall hadn't finished drying and they would finish up today!! Lady next to me spins around and says "seriously???" Funny thing is it was her first Drum Corp show - and this guy used to march. The guys wife meanwhile blabbered on about every corp - either she didn't like the uniforms, pointed out some people with weight problems, laughed at mistakes, etc. Folks, those are our friends, kids, family members workin their tails off to put on a show for us. Shut up or leave the stands so the rest of us can enjoy!
  12. We really enjoyed the show. Did watch the plates, pit, guard and drum line a little, but to be honest we were up there trying to follow a Sop player around the field with our eyes - and we got tired! All I can say is these guys work extremely hard, move the majority of the time on the field and use up all the time playing since there are no props to set up. They flat out fly at times as does their music. Afterwards we spent about an hour talking with various members (everyone of them is a great guy) and they have a lot of changes in store for CO. Can't say too much other than they are all pumped with the show and upcoming changes. My one request was that they let the sop trio play longer and don't hold back since that really got the crowd going. Hope this helps sustain you until you can see them in person.
  13. After two rainout trips from St Louis we drove up to Michigan City and got to see a great show. These guys work their butts off, that's for sure! Can't wait to see how they come out in CO after a few days of "tweeking" in NE. Also want to say what a great town Michigan City is and what a great venue. GO SCOUTS!!! BYBO!!!
  14. Should just be coming back from Int. Anyone with an update?
