  1. I marched with someone that did that. He wanted the year of experience for his air force application.
  2. I march Bluecoats and if someone used Autumn Leaves I wouldn't hate on them. Its a pretty famous tune and my corps can't just hold a monopoly on it. Kind of like Russian Christmas Music and Crossmen and, Imagine with the Cascades. P.S. Don't the Crossmen also use Birdland as a corps song?
  3. Good job looking that up. If I might ask who is this because we march together?
  4. The second thing I thought of as well. After Lennon of course.
  5. Thanks for noticing things like that I really hope that we can work some magic this season!
  6. Actually I'm pretty sure other than the original music that we played and the Simon and Garfunkel stuff all of our music this summer came from a movie. On The Waterfront is the classic Marlon Brandon film with music by Leonard Berstein and a lot of material in the fourth tune also draws from the Love theme from that film. The fifth tune is made up of a lot of the symphonic score to the Rocky movies and its all really great stuff.
  7. Really you just need to practice lots and lots of fundamentals. Success in a drum corps hornline comes from the individual having a great command of their instrument. Drum corps horn playing is all about matching, vertical alignment, and perfection. So when I practice for drum corps I'm just striving for ultimate consistency. Every night when I step on the field during the summer I'm striving for a perfect run both playing and marching and I rely on the fact that I have put work into my fundamentals to make my goal come true. Its a lot easier to perfect your own individual show if you don't have to think about your breathing, fingers, and intonation because you've done it so much that you make automatic adjustments.
  8. When I marched in Division III I played on Kanstul G bugles and I absolutely loved them. I also use a Kantstul Fluegelhorn now that I'm in college and its a superb horn. My professor is a Kanstul artist and he sort of swears by a lot of things they make. I've never used any of their B-Flat marching brass though so I can't comment on how they are.
  9. Always Don't Stop Believing by Journey and following that an assortment of Earth, Wind, and Fire is what we mainly listened too after that.
