  1. As many former marchers as we have on DCP I find it ironic that people are complaining about the heat while WATCHING the performances. If we can stick out through several days of rehearsal in Texas I am fully confident that you'll survive a few hours on your rear ends.
  2. Not as experienced as the psychologist and the behavior analyst, but as a psychology undergrad I'd like to chip in here. I don't find that drum corps kids operate on a level as rudimentary as operant conditioning in their learning process. For most of the kids I march with as well as myself, the motivation is internal rather than reliant on the staff. In my experience the staff neither heavily reinforced or punished us; they merely gave us the information and we processed it with the drive to be a better corps. I may be wrong but this seems like the more mature approach to instruction, especially at the DC level.
  3. It seems like the only way you could assume Madison would overtake Troop this year would be because of the big names they've hired. I think the Troopers are a great example of an amazing team coming together to build a great corps, but they still had to build it. It didn't happen in one year, or even two. If I had to bet, I would put my money with a corps that has had a team working together for the 4th year in a row over one that's revamping a majority of the staff. Regardless, fighting for finals spots is much more interesting to watch than having a lock for a month.
  4. More than likely the audition book you get after registration is a collection of basic brass technique exercises: lip slurs, articulations and the like. When I auditioned you selected your own etudes to play for them.
  5. I believe you pay a one time registration fee then you pay for each camp after that.
  6. Usually the corps busses the members from Denver International to avoid having to pay to fly into Wyoming. Tickets to DIA can run as low as $99 if you order far enough in advance
  7. It's true, I talked to a Cadet age-out about this switch. Scissor leg can cause some harsh injuries if you don't pull off every direction change perfectly. Let's be honest, not even the Cadets can be perfect at 500 bpm or whatever tempos they reach these days.
  8. Quite a bit of Troop's staff from last year, let's see what it'll do for them.
  9. I would definitely recommend a higher SPF if you're targeting the drum corps activity. I eventually gave it up for DCT's higher SPF to protect my lips on sunny days.
  10. Sir I assure you I've scanned the list of corps and there isn't one that rhymes wih...oh I see what you're saying.
  11. Well I would assume these people would be signed up with the Cadets email list, which this was sent out to. So yes, I would say they have.
  12. Yep, gone in a few days here. I'll consider this my official goodbye to DCP, hope to see you on the road and whatnot.
  13. "Show design" seems a bit broad...what specifically is holding them back?
  14. Wait so...the schedule they have up is a lie?
