  1. I am pretty sure that the general feeling was a burning sensation - fortunately Gold Bond was available.
  2. Not going to happen as long as corps have to obtain music licensing permission & synch rights.
  3. How many acres wil the corps be using this weekend???
  4. It should be Tom Peashey Stadium Bar & Grill ! or more seriously, Vince Bruni Field
  5. even though they have been averaging 12-13 brass per camp/rehearsal again this year???
  6. I thought corps already were endorsed/sponsored by Yamaha, Jupiter, Pearl, Dynasty, Remo, Evans, Vic Firth etc. ??? Can't imagine they would be able to add sponsor decals on top of equipment already branded. As far as selling naming & title rights to a program - sure. What's the value? Audio exposure every time they perform? Not much there, especially when the Cavies have a show in West Cow Pasture, Mn in Jnne in front of 28 fans, 2 cows and 5 judges ( all of which are interhangable). Note: I mean no disrespect to cows.
  7. so far I am looking forward to seeing the Cadets, Crusaders & Bluecoats Oh yeah, and SCV...... as long as they dont mess with Appalachian Spring and destroy the melodies.
  8. Top 3 (any order) BDB, Citations, Teal Sound Next 3 (any order) SCV Cadets, Revolution, Oregon Cruaders Next 3 (any order)Memphis Sound, Music City, Cap Regiment Next 3 (any order) Raiders, Yamato, Dutch Boy just outside, looking in Legends, Spartans, Velvet Knights almost a contender 7th Regiment, Colt Cadets
  9. cue " Battle Hym of the Republic"..... HIS TRUTH IS MARCHING ON!!!!
  10. OK - I just spoke to a former DCI director and he shared more insight into the economics of the various DCI levels of participation. How much money do the Open Class corps bring to the table and put into the DCI coffers? None , they run at a deficit. Do people pay money to see them, or the World Class corps at Regionals and Nationals? Nope, they barely attend the Open Class championships. Never more than 5k attendance and that was back in 02 when the WC corps participated. The WC corps are the members and DCI is the governing body. Open class corps exist through the subsidies provided by DCI aka World Class Corps. If left to its own devices, the Open Class corps as a separate entity would be gone in a flash. Warm up your cold hard facts with those nuggets of information.
  11. That's hogwash. DCI can not ensure a corps has a working and productive Board of Directors. They can only mandate there be one and it is compliant with the laws. DCI ca nnot mandate each corps has an intelligent and business minded operating management team. Belive me when I say there have been loads of dummies who have somehow wound up running Division 2/3 - sorry OPEN CLASS corps. The Troopers did everything the right way in returning to the field. They put good competent and dedicated peple in place. They developed a deeper BOD and most importantly, raised the funds needed to put a corps on the road. DCI didn't do that for them. Please be more specific when saying there were corps who did not receive a fair shake and yet had all their ducks in a row otherwise.....
  12. Someone pee in your California raisin soaked Cheerios? It's evident the Renegades are unable to accept criticism....years of stagnant placement at DCA shows it. Eastern corps do make adjustments from year to year. Look at how the Buccaneers guard has improved RETROACTIVELY since my original post
  13. I just saw this on the crusaders web site http://www.crusaders.com/crusaders/news/ne...ews_item_id=382 Sounds like a very cool concept. I can't say I have loved all of the Boston productions in years past (2005-2007 were weak) but thought 08 was creative step in the right direction. Good move Boston.
  14. Watch the Hurricanes pass Reading in all the visual captions (ESPECIALLY guard) this season. quote name='VOReason' date='Jan 5 2009, 05:28 PM' post='2451757'] News flash....NOBOBY is going to win (or lose) ANYTHING based on the relatvie strength or weakness of their guard. Considering the overall strength of Reading against the rest of the field, their guard could be juggling bowling balls and twirling rebar...it would not matter.
  15. Will this affect the Oregon Crusaders? It seems like there is an every other year thing where OC is good one year and Seattle the next. I hope Oregon can sustain their development from 07-08. They were one of the more interesting stories of last season. I believe they would have won a World Championship if tehre was still a Division 3, no?
  16. No Mr. Maiello, it was not meant as a derogatory remark toward your corps. In fact, I wish there were more Div 3 corps in the NY/NJ/PA area. Best of luck to you and the Raiders orginization. I think what you guys do to keep the corps on the field every year is amazing.
  17. Wow, thanks for clearing that up. I loved the Troopers show in 0 and heard 09 will be very unique. Go Troop
