  1. Hi All , Like Lou said . Many of the Mass Brass people play in other full size Corps that will be on the Sat night Plymouth Show . Some are in two & three other Corps that night. I know that six of them are in The St. Kevins hornline. They all have great lips , but there has to be a limit to how much one can play with quality in a single night . The show always has a full lineup .In some of the past years the show went to midnight ! Thats alot of Drum Corps in one sitting ! Just make sure you don't miss this years great Corps . At least a couple that havent been North in a long time . Hanover Lancers & Reilly Raiders . Great show !! All the Best, Mike D.
  2. Wow , Its great tp see a couple of Pa. corps come up for the big show ! Glad to see the Hanover Lancers have a corps .Havent seen them up north since the late 60s. Only see Reilly when our corps( St. Kevins) travels down south. Man this should be one of the best Plymouth shows ever , in the 15 years it has been running. I am sure everybody is looking forward to it. See you all soon, Mike D.

  6. Like I said .....don't worry about how your mouth looks . A friend of mine plays out of the side of his .He has been National French Horn Champion four times .He is currently one of the best mellophone players in the country .Do you think He stays up nights wishing that He played from the center of his lips ? ........Just play that horn & enjoy yourself. All the best , Mike D.
  7. Very interesting , can you smile ? Can you relax that smile ? If you can ...don't get bogged down in the B.S. & just play that horn !After playing for 7 years , what are you worried about ? all the Best, Mike D.
  8. Hey Dan , Doesn't seem like 37 years since we marched together. Man ,was that fun at the BHOF show or what ? Looking forward to the big GAS. now. The Yankee Rebs really know how to throw a party. Tune up your singing voice too ! Mike D.
  9. I had a Benge 6v that came with my horn when it was new .I never liked it at all .Just Me , I guess. I threw it in in the deal when I sold another mell that I had . Scooter is on the money when He says to try the Curry TF series. Most of us in The St. Kevins mell section use Curry TF & love them . Full sound in whatever range you are playing in . Try one. Mike D.

  13. So True , We are very lucky in the Boston area . There are three large Alumni Drum Corps ,St.Kevins Defenders & Crusaders .we all get along just fine . Hey , this is Alumni Corps ....Enjoy ! We are all a little different from each other ,but that says alot about the strength of Drum & Bugle Corps in Boston ! Its ALL good . Mike D.
  14. Yah , I second that . Saw Myles Davis at Newport Jazz once .He not only leaned forward ,but faced away from the crowd ! Not cool . He could play though ..... Mike D.
  15. All the Best to your Corps . That whole area always has produced strong Drum Corps . I marched senior Corps in the 60s & early 70s .the western Ma. & NY state always had plenty of talent . Interstatemen, Marksmen , Criterions ,& of course the Targets ,St George Olympians, Pittsfield Cavies .Great names .Good Stock in your neck of the woods . Show the world is right ! Mike D.

Kevins only asks that you make one rehearsal a month . Make what ever shows an parades that you can .This is a hobby . Not like the days when we were in competition .Nobody is going to break your stones .This is the beauty of Sr Alumni Corps .you can have fun & still see you wife & kids. Our entire schedule for the year is on our web site .We have one more indoor show ,in Boston, in June that is not listed yet. Yah Man....thats the life !! Later, Mike D.

Hi Derek, I have been a member of The St. Kevin Emerald Knights for the last 10 Years .In other big Corps since 1965 .Kevins is ,without a doubt , the finest group of Corps people you will ever find !
