  1. "Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps Thanks to all the volunteers and donors who helped to rebuild the factory. Your efforts were monumental and very much appreciated." Via their Facebook account. Looks like everything was fixed!
  2. This is what I would love: Holy Name Cadets take first! Santa Clara in second Crown third BLUE DEVILS in fourth =] And Troopers making finals. Ready set go?
  3. In Houston, the Blue Devils are staying at Seven Lakes High School. Address is 9251 South Fry Road, Katy, Texas 77494 It's my former school, and only about 30 minutes from the Berry Center.
  4. I just turned 19 a few days ago, actually. I do plan on marching at least 2 more years in my collegedrumline, and I've got three more years to march DCI, which I'll be marching all of =] So I've still got plenty of time to develop back problems! hahahaha
  5. I marched bass 5 for all four years of high school, and then bass 4 last summer with the Spartans...and haven't had ANYTHING near what you got. I dunno if bass drumming caused that, but it sure as heck didn't help your case at all. I haven't really had any injuries due to bass drumming, except for one year where our carrier J-Hooks were too low, and scraped against my thighs for a whole season =/
  6. Oh yeah, from what I've heard, Hopkins is an amazing director. He truly does care about his kids in the Cadets. Every marching member is a family member to him. Another guy who TRULY deserves some major respect is Howard Weinstein. of the Blue Stars.. He's one of the most down to Earth, respectful, most caring individuals in DCI, in my opinion.
  7. Thanks to those who posted Hopkins' contact info. I'm interested in the bass 1 spot right now.
  8. Oh snap, some goin band people? Let's just say I'm still currently in it :) Go ZIT
  9. It's not a joke. This was at...the Feb. camp I believe? I was there for 3 camps. They played Rhapsody in Blue, and it BLEW my mind at how great of an arrangement it is. Plus, even for February, the hornline was soooooooo loud and amazing. The Blue Stars are going to place very, very well this year. BTW, it was just the hornline and front ensemble playing this. It's most definitely an encore piece.
  10. I'm not a drummer and this is one area I tend to overlook when watching a show, but these guys seem to be doing great for this early. For the drummers out there, how would you rate the difficulty of what they are playing? It's definitely quite challenging stuff. I auditioned in January, and was back in Feb. and March, but sadly didn't get a spot afterall. By the time I was done, about 70% of the show music was finished. And it's all good writing(Brent wrote everything, but the drumbreak. But Aungst helped him with some of the other stuff I believe)
  11. Yep, I saw that video posted earlier today. It's their drumbreak, written by Tom Aungst. They also play some stuff written by Brent, all spectacular writing. Sounding REALLY good for this early in the season, I'm expecting great things for the Blue Stars this season =]
