  1. I was impressed at the top 5 scores last night - all scored above 95! 1 Blue Devils 99.050 2 Carolina Crown 97.500 3 Holy Name Cadets 97.200 4 The Cavaliers 96.150 5 Santa Clara Vanguard 95.650 The top 3 corps scored above a 97. I'm just throwing this off the top of my head but I think that's the highest 3rd place score in DCI history.
  2. Yes! I have heard the feeder corps will be named "TBA". But "Rain Delay" seems to be in the mix too because of its' popularity this year.
  3. I personally think this piece composed by John Mackey would be a spectacular piece for a drum corps to play- http://ostimusic.com/sounds/AsphaltCocktail.mp3 Now that being said, it's not that hard to find pieces that can be translated to the field. For instance, who thought Appalacian Spring would make it onto the field? Or as a matter of fact, any Copland piece. With the many open composers and arrangers out there corps shouldn't have trouble finding new work to perform with. There are several pieces out their where I end asking myself, "Wouldn't this be a spectacular piece to be performed on the field?". I think if corps like Crown would stretch their imagination further into the music industry they could in turn find music that would someday give them a "label". P.S. This is in no way to rant on Crown, but more of a suggestion. -Kasey
  4. But BD didn't have to do that. They have been in the top 5 for many many years.
  5. I loved the Cadets that year. And the way things are turning out now (electronics and vocals), I see Cadets as the guys who started it all. Now it just seems as if the other corps are following the Cadets and moving into the future of drum corps. Well, anyway...GO INT!
  6. Cavaliers pulled off a spectacular feat staying in the top 3 since 2000.
  7. I thought that one visual move with that one guy repainting the lines was very original.
  8. Which proves that Phantom Regiment is a coincidence.
  9. I don't know if this was mentioned but it's been 23 years since Phantom scored under 90. And for the recorde BD on that year.
  10. INT has some spots open next year. I might audition. Anyone else?
  11. Suppossedly it was derived from this medical technique that get temporarily paralyzed patients to walk again.
  12. According to corpsreps- Division 2 Finals 2002: 1 Magic of Orlando 99.050 2 Capital Regiment 96.500 3 Mandarins 95.800 4 Vanguard Cadets 94.350 5 Spartans 93.900 6 Esperanza 92.200 7 Patriots 89.250 8 East Coast Jazz 88.000 9 Jersey Surf 87.750 Division 1 Finals 2002: 1 Cavaliers 99.150 2 Blue Devils 97.300 3 The Cadets 96.750 4 Santa Clara Vanguard 95.650 5 Boston Crusaders 92.400 5 Phantom Regiment 92.400 7 Bluecoats 91.500 8 Glassmen 91.000 9 Crossmen 89.100 10 Spirit 85.450 11 Magic of Orlando 84.850 12 Seattle Cascades 84.050 Question 1: How and why did Magic of Orlando get to compete in both division 2 and 1 finals? Question 2: Was judging more forgiving in division 2 then? Was it a way to even out the scores between division 1 and 2? Your info is appreciated. Thanks, Kasey
  13. They are playing the Haitian Fight Song by Charls Mingus! Now I know I am going to enjoy this.

  16. I should be going for this. I'm excited for the show this year!
  17. Do you know of any cases where a fan just screams something weird or funny at a performance? Here's some thing from the Bluecoats show "Connexus" At 4:25 you can hear a guy scream "Oh My God." <link removed - Geoff>
