  1. This commentary is cool, even though the BC guy did go into quite a lot of detail. I have to say even though it is drum corps, it's nice to know a lot of detail goes into these productions.
  2. I have to say I am extremely happy DCI decided to stream the commentary feeds. I am really enjoying both watching the show and being able to understand the many different layers and elements that are in them. I didn't even recognize or realize half of what these shows contain. It's very exciting as a fan to be able to enjoy the show on many different levels. The commentary definitely helps with that. Thanks DCI!
  3. I definitely just learned a lot about Phantom's show. I think I like it more now. Great sound as usual!
  4. I must agree again. Boston was great tonight! I wasn't too sure about this show from what I saw the beginning of the season, but when they really perform, it adds a whole other dimension to this show. Awesome BAC!
  5. I couldn't agree more with you guys. Sully's commentary was awesome! Funny and real and soooo true. Having marched in BK I can appreciate everything he said. I really do like what BK is doing this year and I'm so happy to see them moving towards a more accessible approach.
  6. Wow, way to go Troop! I like this show more each time I see it. I thought they sounded great!
  7. So maybe a tad bit off topic, but anyone heard about any of BD's changes yet?
  8. Good question. I would think this could be up there.
  9. Bingo! Spot on. Except the hate part. I would add that BD emphasizes not wasting excess energy in our movement. Unlike BK's technique prior to this season. That was waaaaay more challenging because of the excess motion. Whew.... And thanks MagicBobert for your awesome post! I certainly appreciate and agree with everything you said!
  10. I can speak for myself only... it was certainly a bitter pill to swallow, it being my age-out year. It was certainly difficult to play with my heart in it, but I didn't butcher the song. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know many others were feeling the same thing I was.
  11. By the way, there are some clips of some show happenings as well as a really good recording of "When A Man Loves a Woman" from the encore somewhere....................................
  12. Sorry I can't comment fully on the other corps because I was in the lot...wish I could. What I did hear of the Academy sounded good but a bit tired towards the end. There arent any scores for this show. Just the audience voting. I thought the "drum battle" was wierd at first but kinda humorous by the end. They did it to kill time while the corps moved in for encore I believe.
  13. Sorry for no updates during the show guys. Here's the quick update: BD won the audience voting. The specifics will but up at drumsalongthestrip.com I'm guessing tomorrow. The show itself was quite nice. Decent size crowd for the first show in Vegas since 1981. I personally didn't see the first three corps on, so I can't comment on them. Bluecoats sounded great tonight, especially the ballad. Visually I'd say they are around where they were the last time I saw them (Stockton webcast). I thought BD was powerful and had a very good balance tonight. They looked good and it was nice to finally see them live! Encore was Bluecoats playing their opener, followed by BD playing theirs. Bluecoats then played the end of their show I believe and BD played "When A Man Loves a Woman," which I think might have been my favorite tune of the night. There were some small changes in BD's show from what I saw that were nice touches and created some cool moments. Don't really remember too many things different in the Bluecoats' show. Overall a great night, good weather, and a most welcomed show in the desert. Hope they come back next year!
  14. Couple things for me... I am a bit biased, but I certainly feel this way frequently. We may not have marched as many steps last year as some other corps, but sprinting around the field and then trying to maintain good breath support, strong marching technique, etc was tough stuff. I think this sums up my opinion fairly well. Very true of what I see in BD's drill this year and what I experienced. And that jazz running technique ain't the easiest thing to do. Let me tell ya. BTW, all corps sounded great tonight at Drums Along The Strip. Especially BD and the Bluecoats. Great sounds and very balanced.
  15. Indeed it is. Marched in it myself. Thank you. AMEN!!! Hot or not, you know I'll be there! BTW, the BD site says they are staying at Las Vegas High School.
  16. 100% correct. Prep a full count before marching from a halt. Then pass toes pointed down on the step, although some have said the style has been simplified this year.
  17. So far I'd have to say the Bluecoats. I really liked what I heard on the Stanford FN video. I thought they had a very nice sonority.
  18. Although in this situation it's the corps I aged out in, I couldn't agree more with this statement. I enjoy reading peoples' evaluations of performances when they are based upon what they see that night. Thank you for the updates!!!
  19. Very glad to hear that about BK. I'm really looking forward to seeing them live.
  20. I may be a bit partial, but I completely agree. I very much enjoyed watching them. They caught my attention more than any guard I've seen so far.
  21. You guys crack me up! That was certainly special.
