  1. Thanks for the lecture. I employee hundreds of young adults. Scratch that, thousands. Believe me I'm closely attuned to their priorities and work ethic. Drum corps kids are certainly an exception these days
  2. I'm not a baby boomer. Your experience was similar to most and what I posted. It's unfortunate so many obstacles interfere with drum corps participation. That's why a variety of corps are needed with difference budget and time obligations. Unfortunately the boomers running dci destroyed the regional championships and local, part time corps as worthless.
  3. checks bounce and/or summer school or summer job dashes the dream Cadets seem to use the opportunity to try to fill the lone spot with an even stronger individual. If you think about it they are now recruiting for 1 person (vs. 72) As far as "young planning better" - I have little respect for today's young to "plan well" - they want FREE this and that, not hard work or delayed gratification. JMO
  4. Gee I hope they don't fold because they can't scrape together enough brass players (/sac)
  5. Cadets looking for a certified athletic trainer for summer tour: http://yea.org/programs/cadets/cadets/news/1197-cadets-seeking-certified-athletic-trainer

  7. Pat - center snare we were discussing a couple week's ago - has a gofundme page for his last year in the Cadets Help if you can! https://www.gofundme.com/t66sq4k7
  8. yeah - I would say send an email out to organizations about possible conductor spots - DM spots long gone corps - even top corps - have been known to add field conductor spots late as the visual starts to hit the field in May usually we see a couple "we need a field conductor" type announcements around then... Good luck!
  9. Agree. Soundsport for a year or even two to build volunteers and membership back. Maybe an indoor drum line if that makes sense, then a year or two in Open. Five years to have our World Class Glassmen back is time well spent!
  10. can we get back to Cadets 2016? None of you are nearly as clever or amusing as you appear to think I wonder when the new show title / logo will be released? "Awakenings" Anyone know that, or how the guard membership is looking so far? I know they have the actual guard tryout camp coming up... wonder how many (if any) spots are already set aside for vets?
  11. Maybe you find this amusing, I do not. Obviously not the same people, zero personal or professional relationship. And the Koolaid comment is just you being insulting
  12. the Cadet's'es is the plural possessive spelling... Even the Blue Coat's and the Crossman's AGREE
  13. We were referring to the conversation regarding Planar Analysis that happened on RAMD / literally a two year non stop argument. Extremely frustrating folks involved on it. Went round in circles.
  14. 2015 SCV IW WGI Guard's show "The Number 10 - You'll never be Alone" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeBbJi7zpG0 kind of funny in a way... lots of numbers INCREDIBLE program - not sure if you guys have seen this Somewhat OT
  15. Kristy Templin's 2015 Scholastic World HS Guard Mechanicsburg - new Cadets guard Caption Head https://youtu.be/HGEZbcWkXUY?t=3m51s give you a sense of her style...
  16. good grief So - did I correctly read they wove in another Brass only camp this month? I know in March it is percussion only (post-WGI) as well as the April 29 guard camp for final membership contracts Then move in is Mid-May 90 days away!!
  17. oh gosh never mind. At least be honest that we see folks hating on Hop for all sorts of inane things - it gets OLD - that's all :) I never called you a "Hater" // but frankly your comment seemed a little trivial and that was the impression it gave me It's not a big deal - sorry if my retort ruffled your feathers - meant no harm.
  18. the design resemblance is uncanny - clearly some of the 2015 choreography was lifted from this
  19. 1. The matter doesn't concern him at all frankly. So not sure what "his concern" is - for all we know Hop has permission, if the composer feels it is an issue I'm sure he would write to Hopkins and request its removal. 2. My post wasn't sarcastic. Meant every word.
  20. Hop consulted Boston. They were never a part of the YEA organization. I don't even think it lasted very long. Also my post was referring to Crossmen and Cadets re VA tech. Not Boston. Its great how well Boston is doing now. Very excited about it!
  21. Good grief. Is that the best you got? Lol.
  22. yeah - sorry. I thought the video with the voice over was new.
