  1. I agree to a very large extent. I don't put the blame on the performers as much as the design itself. If you watch the guard for example they are "emoting" with the best of them. The design is just slow... A few sections of velocity would do wonders...
  2. I personally think Cadets have been too wussy with the changes this year - felt the same way last year This year they need to shorten the opening, shorten Lincoln. pump up the drill for the ending of Part 2... get a small ensemble (snare line?) up on that stage, add drill to the Kennedy drum solo AND add an ending that will pull folks out of their seats Adding a new ending with the kids forming an "earth" in the center of the field surrounded by banners isn't going to make a hill of beans different. So I'm holding out hope they have way more in store than that LY they wasted the #1 musical ensemble with the #### boxes that they couldn't clean. And what was up with the random color scheme? (Same could be said of this year - if I'm picking three colors to differentiate segments of a program two of them would not be YELLOW and GOLD). The clown colors last year had zero to do with the music. If anything red should have been with Media. Or black. Not yellow!! Grrr. Now you got me going This is what happens when you take an essentially competitive type A person and subject them to the NY Times, NPR and Starbucks for way too long. Rant over.
  3. I'm an idiot and have no idea what I'm talking about hahaha - I'm probably off by 2 or 3 points for every corps Such a newbie.
  4. not really dude - the scores are consistent with the weekly trend other than my having Coats fall to 5 - I see those 3 very close as they have been...
  5. I realize that. I personally believe both Crown & SCV have improved more over the past week. Also GE judge 2 had Coats in second with Cadets in 5th. THAT is quite different than every other reading this season... So until I personally see that repeated a time or two more it's an outlier viewpoint. Cadets went in one show from running ahead of them in GE by about 1.4 consistently to suddenly being behind Coats in GE by 0.1. Given that the GE total is NOT divided that represents a 1.5 swing in one night. A little dramatic. That's all I'm saying. And I'd feel differently if Coats would have had a cleaner run.
  6. ehh... I love BK's show but Cavaliers drum and GE will likely keep them ahead for the rest of the year... last night's score was a little odd. Now if it repeats itself again we have a pattern! I totally love BK this year - my second favorite behind Coats and just ahead of BD
  7. meaning what had been happening up until last night - the few prior shows to last night until it becomes a pattern some of last night is an outlier if it repeats itself tonight then it becomes the expected (for me) I'm just a big believer that a one time event does not a trend make
  8. My guesses - 1. BD 93.750 - guard 2. Cadets 92.875 - visual 3. SCV 91.350 - drums 4. Crown 91.125 - brass 5. Coats 91.150 6. Cavies 89.750 7. BK 88.250 8. Blue Stars 86.750 9. Phantom Regiment 85.975 10. Scouts 85.750 11. Boston 84.650 12. Crossmen 83.550 13. Troopers 81.750 14. SOA 79.650 15. Colts 78.900 16. OC 77.250 17. Academy 76.250 18. Crest 75.750 19. Mandarins 20. Surf 73.250 21. Cascades 70.125 22 . Pio 68.250
  9. Totally agree on the Cavaliers - they were probably 2-3 points off where I had expected. Cadets were a point off as well. I also thought SCV was slightly underscored. It will be interesting to see if it sorts itself out tonight...
  10. Great points. Bluecoats are MY favorite as well this year so I'm finding myself a bit torn. Last night I saw a Coats with a ton of visual issues and personally felt the gap was way too close between them and Cadets - looked more like a 1.5-2 point gap IMO. But I want Coats to win - and earn it. I do think the changes in their program (especially the new ending) will help Coats close up the GE gap that had opened up once cleaner. Cadets placed sixth in 1991. So a while ago :)
  11. I agree they will come out and light it up. That said last night's score was a bad joke as were the gaps between corps last night Should sort itself out tonight. Cavaliers were the other corps that got hosed last night IMO
  12. you're becoming quite the pot-stirrer NO. The Devils represent the standard of what a Drum & Bugle Corps is... Great marching, great drumming, great brass and great spinning!
  13. boy the ending drill really reeks of Star 90...
  14. why are you always trolling me? Yes - one judge swung it a lot tonight. A very inconsistent ranking by GE judge 2 compared with all the history of the season and even just this week. Quite inconsistent to EVERYONE ELSE - so it is what it is And I'd love it if you would stop with the snarky posts aimed at me.
  15. one judge swung the whole thing tonight - I'd advise everyone to not overreact - let's see what tomorrow brings! good hanging out with everyone!
  16. it would be funny IF Coats had beaten Cadets in score... but then again, no it really wouldn't be that funny
  17. I totally agree. I personally felt Cavaliers & Cadets were both scored too low & BC a little high...
  18. usually the performance order doesn't make much different but tonight it feels like it did - oh well!
  19. wow. score spreads a little different tonight...
  20. Dude we love you. No worries! Don't let it stress you out whatsoever!!
