  1. Coats were much stronger tonight - looked like a 87/88 type performance I'm pulling for them - clean, clean, clean!!! Awesome show! Thought the guard in particular was very strong tonight!
  2. Coats aren't cleaning as fast as BD & Cadets - interval issues all over the place... sigh I'm pulling for them!
  3. Coats seem on tonight. Guard looking very sharp!
  4. Cadets need to adjust some more things - show is flat in several sections. Regiment - totally agree - I love their identity and feel. Just need to up the execution and they'll be right back in the thick of things. 1989 - still can't forget it!!
  5. Cadets had a very strong run. Should push 90. Program still needs more wow - I guess we'll see a couple snips in part 1 & 2 and a bigger add/on at the end. This corps could handle a little more drill meat with their creamy mashed potatoes
  6. no - they will have 5 on Saturday. They have a couple out for minor injuries and giving them a rest to completely heal. At least that's what I'm being told
  7. Agreed. They even come on the field so confident and calm. It's downright alarming!
  8. Cadets have been working a lot on the ballad the last 48 hours so should be interesting to see that. This is the last performance without the changes of guard uniforms for each section of the show with the coordinating changes of the cummerbund. That's installed tomorrow along with more changes and additions. Go Cadets!
  9. and those are the real obvious examples - I noticed during both Cadets and Crown - and also Bluecoats - corps with sounds coming from all over the field - that much was missed. The small ensembles from various parts of the field were lost. Unfortunately.
  10. Regiment is a little slow for me, for lack of a better word, in the drill and musical transitions - and then the individual musical / visual thoughts go on too long. See Cavaliers a point or two ahead of them, just based on the FN viewing which is not always as telling Regiment's drums are very strong! Some very sweet moments... bass line very strong in particular!
  11. yup -- cue the tin foil hat crowd!! Where's the little yellow piece of paper?
  12. overall they have very tough demand, I was just talking about the drum and horn features... Demand isn't an issue for sure!
  13. Great performance by BD - good lord!! What a great program. And so much fun. Fresh as well. Strengths are obviously the arrangement, the corps talent, the guard is at lowest top 2, visual demand and execution Possible weakness in the program is GE visual - but we'll see how that fleshes out over the coming weeks Just an amazing, amazing job!
  14. A good deal of park and blow in the features - that may be an opening for either Cadets or Crown late season to upset BD - but that's the only "weakness"
  15. Blue Devils are soooooo good and sooooo strong across all captions. The program is a masterful design. Not sure it can/will/or should be touched by anyone this season. Individual demand is so high.
  16. I really enjoyed the Cavaliers show - it seems "quick" almost - I wonder if it is? More to add?
  17. certainly the best post-Gaines alignment of the visual and musical books for Cavies this year. Brass may hold them back from moving much higher this year though... still a huge step in a positive direction and they have a month left!
  18. Cavaliers are improving quickly. Especially visually Also I'm glad the judges are in uniform. Glad the message got through to powers that be, was very distracting the other night!
  19. they played ten seconds of Spring in 2008 - in the prologue - so the real answer there is 1987 So - the kids were 1. not born yet in 1975, never played, never played, not born yet (1987) and 2 years old. I hardly think that counts as having played the music they've played multiple times in the past. Heck the current kids weren't even alive!
  20. a little OT - but listened to Nimrod today - the British Brass Band version my oh my what a GREAT job Crown has done with this one over the years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyb39zUqeq0
