  1. The only reasonable approach for DCI is to move the championships on a yearly basis. This will ultimately allow for the most exposure of the country to DCI. Hopefully DCI is monitoring these forums and starts to understand the mistake they made committing to INDY for such a long string of 10 years. And by the way DCI when you figure out your first mistake of staying in one place, fix the second mistake also, MOVE THE FINALS OUTSIDE!!
  2. I am somewhat disapointed by the articles that DCI has posted to date on the sound issues at LOS. It is refreshing that they are even discussing this, but I think the efforts may be misplaced. Most fans would like to understand the impact on the state of Drum Corps if this venue was to be changed. What is the real effect of getting out of this deal with LOS. Not only is the sound a problem but the viewing perspective from the sixth level where the most density of seating is available is terrible. This stadium is huge and the perspective from the top anywhere except the very center is way too far away. The least that DCI could do is to start building more disparity into the ticket pricing for these "bad" seats. I understand that this year(2010) is on the books and that there is no changing out of LOS. Based on that they should do everthing they can do in the short term to improve the acoustics, but lets face it this problem is not going away. Save the future of the Drum Corps Championships and act on getting out of the contract for the years to come. Move from this stadium to open air environments. Go back to the rotation of venues so that fans from different areas of the country can have occasional opportunities to see the DCI championships without traveling across half of the country. For the diehard fans it is actually enjoyable to go to different places to see the championships. Each one offers different opportunities and perspectives for fans. There have been many excellent venues through the years and I am sure there are more to find. DCI fans are the type of fans that will endure the search for hotels and accommodations. They are there to see the corps not enjoy the city. The fans enjoy the adventure of the tour as much as the corps members do, primarily because many of them want to be there or were there once and want to experience once again that time of their lives. Let's not forget what this activity is about, "the life experience". Venture back out DCI, for the pursuit of the best "Open Air" stadium we can find wherever that may be.
  3. I agree, this is a step in the right direction, I just hope thet DCI takes this as seriously as it's fans "will". This sound issue needs a fix to continue to grow this activity as the finest activity of this type. This is too significant to not get fixed. Lets be sure that this process continues honestly and in the end if the fix is not there, I hope DCI will come to terms with it and not let money or egos carry the day. I am confident an organization as fine as DCI will do so. I am a lifetime fan and can't imagine going forward disapointed by this issue not being solved one way or another.
  4. I will let the creative people come up with the show concepts, I just want the roof opened up so I can appreciate what they create!!!
  5. You can only properly state the quality of the sound in this facility as unacceptable. Drum Corps is a musical product. I have watched and participated in Drum Corps for the last 30 years and have continually seen the activity improve with the quality of their musical product. This facilities sound quality takes us back to the days of the single valve bugle! I would hope that DCI would take this issue seriously and address the legitimate concerns of their fans. Either resolve the sound quality issues by opening the roof or through some other method, or move the venue back to an open air stadium. I believe that paramount to this organization's responsibility is the music quality. DCI needs to focus all of it's efforts on this issue quickly or I believe they will see this events attendance dwindle over the next ten years. I personnaly would like to continue to enjoy this event and would ask DCI to do some soul searching and ultimately work to SATISFY YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! I will be writing to DCI directly and I would encourage others to do the same.
