I am somewhat disapointed by the articles that DCI has posted to date on the sound issues at LOS. It is refreshing that they are even discussing this, but I think the efforts may be misplaced. Most fans would like to understand the impact on the state of Drum Corps if this venue was to be changed. What is the real effect of getting out of this deal with LOS. Not only is the sound a problem but the viewing perspective from the sixth level where the most density of seating is available is terrible. This stadium is huge and the perspective from the top anywhere except the very center is way too far away. The least that DCI could do is to start building more disparity into the ticket pricing for these "bad" seats. I understand that this year(2010) is on the books and that there is no changing out of LOS. Based on that they should do everthing they can do in the short term to improve the acoustics, but lets face it this problem is not going away. Save the future of the Drum Corps Championships and act on getting out of the contract for the years to come. Move from this stadium to open air environments. Go back to the rotation of venues so that fans from different areas of the country can have occasional opportunities to see the DCI championships without traveling across half of the country. For the diehard fans it is actually enjoyable to go to different places to see the championships. Each one offers different opportunities and perspectives for fans. There have been many excellent venues through the years and I am sure there are more to find. DCI fans are the type of fans that will endure the search for hotels and accommodations. They are there to see the corps not enjoy the city. The fans enjoy the adventure of the tour as much as the corps members do, primarily because many of them want to be there or were there once and want to experience once again that time of their lives. Let's not forget what this activity is about, "the life experience". Venture back out DCI, for the pursuit of the best "Open Air" stadium we can find wherever that may be.
