  1. BD. That Morrison Mania piece is absolutely incredible live and wow... just so many awesome things happening on that field. Phantom. Beautiful and powerful as usual. Crown. THAT BRASS BOOK. Can I add Bluecoats? And SCV? Musically, this is a FANTASTIC year.
  2. Wow... Vanguard's last set is just... perfect. Makes me really emotional.
  3. Hearing Phantom play Nessun Dorma is certainly one of the greatest gifts on Earth.
  4. I'm cool with whatever they decide to do. I personally love the skirts (I think they're technically called "panels") because they add so much attitude. But I've loved their uniforms every year since I first saw them. I don't know what next year's uniforms will look like, but in the end it's not the uniform that determines how great a corps moves and sounds. Once the show is announced, I think it'll be an indicator of what the uniform will look like. BD & Crown... and even Phantom have modified their uniforms over the past couple of seasons to reflect their show concepts. Who knows?! I'm just excited to see what's going to be out there next season. If this year was any indication of what's to come-- next season is going to be incredible!
  5. :worthy: This is the best thing I've ever seen! LOTR + DCI = WIN! "I am not a Cavalier, I am an ENT."
  6. You can find it on iTunes! It's by an artist named Visnja.
  7. I don't know about you guys, but seeing all of the smiles and friendships during the age out ceremony really put things into perspective. Competition is great, but being part of these organizations is a truly unique and amazing thing. Those performers are to be applauded every time they step on the field, because without them, we wouldn't have anything to love, hate, praise or argue about. To every corps and corps member, thank you. This activity is amazing.
  8. PHANTOM. REGIMENT. Tears, tears, tears. So beautiful.
  9. I'm pretty sure there's no confirmation of any direct link between the two titles. I don't think there's a 1-1 comparison between the corps and the main character, either. If there's any connection, it's his passion for music and using music/love as his escape from the real world. Thanks for the tips on citation. I didn't think I would end up sharing it with anyone, but now that it's out there, I'll cite & clean it up now. EDIT: Also, thanks for the link to Plan9's post! I hadn't seen it before & I actually like his thoughts about the title more than mine!
  10. This whole post... There was only one small group of people at my theatre who booed BD... and they were at the end of my row. I told them to cut it out and stop being immature. I wanted to just let it go like I have in years past... but I'm getting tired of it. So true. I honestly think it's because a lot of the younger kids don't know any better. Not all of them... but so many of them are told rumors and stories that are completely untrue. They think the corps hate each other and that winning is the only thing that matters to the performers. It's a lot like this with the high school kids I teach... they *hate* any particular corps for completely ridiculous reasons, but it's only because they're completely clueless about what the activity really is.
  11. Hahaha! Awesome! If only more people knew about this wonderful activity...
  12. Thanks! I think the connection between the show and the film is still up for debate. There may not even be any meaning to the show title... but it's curious that the main character in the film is involved in real-estate while his true passion is music. Very curious. Thank you! I completely understand where you're coming from. The reason I enjoy shows like this is because I'm fond of analysis. I'm an English major, so finding deeper meanings and connections is fascinating to me!
  13. For all those interested, I wrote a short analysis of BD's show concept last night. If you're struggling to find the connection between Burt Bacharach, the props and the title, it might help you out a bit. If you disagree or dislike it, please still be kind. It's on my personal blog... and I'm kinda scared to throw it out there to DCP. The Beat My Heart Skipped
