  1. I love this story. Here's a link with some more detail about the bonds between Spirit and the Crossmen: http://drumcorpswiki.com/Crossmen#Spirit_Equipment_Truck_Incident Most of the Spirit members wear a Crossmen patch on their Corps jackets in honor of the Crossmen.
  2. Yep--I was there (wearing Spirit's "Speakeasy" tour shirt). I can't imagine being a part of DCI history that folks will talk about probably forever! A story to tell the grandkids. :thumbup:/> Thanks for the info!
  3. In our theater, the moment the member with the spear appeared on screen, the entire audience erupted. Everyone knew what show it was and what was going to happen.
  4. [i'm surprised no one has started this thread yet.] Four Corps are possibly within striking distance of the 80 point milestone: Blue Devils (76.9), Carolina Crown (77.8), The Cadets (75.6), and Santa Clara Vanguard (75.4). Which one gets there first and at which show? The Blue Devils are always strong, but.......they are taking a break this week and rejoining the tour (and Crown) in Walnut, CA on Saturday Jun 29. Meanwhile: Cadets have shows in Fairfield OH, Pittsburgh PA, and Jackson NJ. SCV has shows in Medford OR and Tualatin OR. Crown has a show in Oceanside CA. Both SCV and CC had a show together last night w/o BD. Do you think any of these Corps has a chance to break 80 while the Blue Devils are away? Does the break give BD a chance to fix and clean, and pull away from the pack? Pick the Corps and the show.
  5. The season is still young. There's still time. What else are you going to do with all those swords?
  6. They weren't able to download a sizeable portion of Cavies show--skipped just after they took the field. One second they are in hoods and capes, and then suddenly they're the Green Machine. Nice crowd. A lot of band kids--but well-behaved. In Atlanta, so Spirit got a loud cheer. 2nd loudest for Crown and SCV when they were mentioned at other events. No boos for BD (thank you--told you they were well-behaved), but blooos for Bluecoats (including their own in the tunnel--sheeesh). Band kids love drum breaks. Who knew? The other reviews about covered it for me.
  7. This was BAC's first show. The other Corps already had 1 show under their collective belts.
  8. I've always heard it thus: If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. If you're late, you're FIRED! Some say a similar quote is attributed to Vince Lombardi who wanted all his players to be early to meetings.
  9. While I'd normally cheer that Spirit beat the Cavies, I understand the Cavies had some difficult circumstances to deal with, so this win may have to have a "*" beside it. Here's hoping for sunny skies and clear nights for the rest of the season!

  11. Anyone doing an encore or skipping because of the weather? Anyone still there to report scores?
  12. Wife says it's really windy now, but Wx Channel doesn't predict any rain. Is it looking stormy at the stadium? Hope it clears up for the rest of the Corps!
  13. I hope it's better than the one they did several years ago: "The Sound of Silence".
  14. So what is Int's program for this season? I don't find it on corpsreps.com.
  15. Wish I could be there. Best of luck to ALL the Corps. Wife says I'll really like the Troopers show--lots of music from movie Westerns. Looking at corpsreps.com, I think she's right. Can't go wrong with Elmer Bernstein and John Barry. Before I forget: Go Spirit!!! <(
  16. Usually, we parents are grateful for this. :tongue:/>
  17. Agree. DCI needs to have a central location where we can see at the minimum: Venue address Corps step-off times Judging panel That would be really helpful for those of us "watching" from afar.
  18. Thanks VERY MUCH for the link. Nice to see so much info at one spot.
