  1. So a lot of people on here know about the popular recent shows (Phantom 08, Cavies 10, Crown 11, etc). But what about the shows that are less known? I was wondering if we could create a discussion about shows that people may like because they liked something so that the low exposure shows can get out there can get some love. So give us a popular show and a less popular one and say why someone would like that? So for example, if you liked The Cavaliers 2010 (Mad World), I would recommend The Cavaliers 2000 (Niagara Falls). I think someone would like the latter because it has the same power as 2010 and also has that jazzy element that was present in the 2010 middle section. And the same Cavies drill. So what other recommendations are out there?
  2. Released in the latest edition of Drum Corps World (A lot of this we already knew or guessed, but now it is official) Blue Knights: "Infernal Dance/Berceuse/Finale" from The Firebird Suite - Igor Stravinsky Spirit of Atlanta: "Luck Be A Lady" - Frank Loesser, "Harvest" - John Mackey, "Poker Face" - Stefani Germotta
  3. Didn't know exactly where to post this, so I'll post it here. Does anyone know if there is a time limit for getting Next Day Air shipping through the DCI store? Like "you have to order before X time in order for it to ship today, otherwise it will be shipped tomorrow." Also, will there be a DVD special for this week? Just got my refund check for this semester, turned out to be more than I anticipated, so I'm treating myself to some DVDs (planning on ordering 2000-2005 in order to complete my collection of everything from this Millennium) Thanks!
  4. So, after realizing how upset some people were getting about the lack of a show announcement from the Blue Knights, I sat in the massive, state of the art thinking facility in my house (complete with waterfall and large supply of Teavana's Samurai Chai Mate tea) and pondered for three days and nights about possible reasons for this. Eventually I came up with some highly probable reasons, listed below. # 10. The corps' director set a bad date for the announcement in his calendar. According to this source, the Blue Knights were scheduled to announce their in early 2013 instead of 2012. # 09: George Hopkins. Enough said. # 08: The Blue Knights are upset at Drum Corps International after being refused to perform a 100 hour show containing the music of the popular YouTube video "Nyan Cat: 100 Hours." Long story short, the Knights won't announce until DCI apologizes for being a "big hairy meanie." # 07: The Blue Knights are not marching a show this year, after adopting the Soviet Russian concept of "In Soviet Russia, show announce you/march you/play you/etc," so fans should not expect a "Blue Knights are playing [music]" announcement, but instead, they are waiting for the music to announce that they are marching/playing the Blue Knights. # 06: Only silly French corps (Boston '11) announce early. This concept isn't good enough for the English (Knights '11). # 05: The person who had the plans to announce was on his way to wherever he had to announce the show from. As he walked down the stairs towards the announcement room, he heard a voice say "Imagine you're in Hell, and you want out." He hasn't been seen since, though a possible motif for this act was perhaps avenging a certain loss that the Vanguard suffered early in 2010. # 04: The corps is determined to first find their "Bonny Boy" from last year before they announce their plans for this year. # 03: The corps is doing a show about Fight Club. As per the first rule of Fight Club, they cannot announce what the show is. # 02: The corps is planning on doing a Hunger Games themed show. However, they want to quadruple check the bi-laws in the DCI handbook pertaining to having individuals fight to the death before they make the announcement And the # 01 reason for why the Blue Knights haven't announced is....completely up to you. Post what you think below, and let us occupy ourselves with this as we await the announcement. *Please note, this thread was created to be humorous. Don't bash other groups unless it's completely obvious that you are being sarcastic.*
  5. All I know is that new subscriptions will be available on the 29th
  6. Host a Hunger Games scenario with the Drum Majors of the 23 World Class corps and the top Open Class corps and broadcast it on television.
  7. Not a problem with the videos, but I didn't know where else to ask this. When can one pay for their 2012-2013 subscription? Also, what was the price last year for Live + DVD?
  8. Special Announcement from the Bluecoats: Music licensing is vitally important in our process of selecting and announcing the music we play each year. Since some pieces take longer than others to clear the music licensing process, we just received the green light to announce our repertoire in its entirety within the past few days. Thank you (our fans!) for your patience. We hope you enjoy our 2012 program, “UnMasqued.”
  9. 11. That would be a pretty cool idea, but according to their Facebook page they have a big announcement for tomorrow, which may or may not be the show music.
  12. How long ago did Blue Devils change the last movements repertoire? GERTRUDE WRITES A PLAY "Peppy and George" Ludovic Bource (from The Artist) "Dr. Bones" Steve Perry "New Arrival" Danny Elfman (from Corpse Bride) "Tevot" Thomas Ades "Rhapsody in Blue" George Gershwin

  14. According to Facebook, Phantom is getting new uniforms again. Do you think it will be a show related touch like the Montague crest from last year? Anyone else hoping for all black?
  15. Not too sure if it first happened in Allentown, but it was definitely there. Speaking of changing endings, do The Cavaliers always debut their new ending at Atlanta? If I remember correctly, they did this for Mad World and XtraordinarY, but I'm not too sure as far as before then.
  16. Is that Rick Astley? If so...Finals Night Rick Roll?
  17. “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson “Wailers/PD7” Interweaving of Bobby McFerrin’s "Wailers" and Anoushka Shankar’s "PD7" “Here Comes the Flood” Peter Gabriel “Finding and Believing” Pat Metheny Full article: http://www.crossmen.org/page25917916
  18. Was your goal to get a Buffet-Crampon Divine? If so....
  19. According to their latest video, all of Phantom's music will be pulled from Puccini's Turandot exclusively, unlike last year.
