  1. IMO....it would have to be Brigs 2002......Empire 2004 (loved the way they depicted each scene......blood red for murder), and Renegades 2007 (great feeling into that show, and fun to watch - and perform I'm sure).
  2. Doesn't DCA vote on a 'Corps of the Decade' ? I remember seeing that list sometime, but can't remember who was associated with which decade.....best of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Does anyone else remember this list?
  3. Is Empire still going to do 'DREAM GIRLS' like they announced in the past? Or will they play some of the old favorites from their past? Complete with a color-pre! That would be cool, if done right. Lets hear about it.
  4. Have to agree with this post!! They were in tears at the end when they played "When you wish Upon A Star" It was one of the BEST moments of the weekend!!
  5. Congrats to Sunrisers for their big win. As a participant, you don't see it all as well as an audience member. To see and hear all of these finalist was a total blast. You were all good and you all show such class, I'm proud to say I am part of this drum corps family. I actually need to say THANK YOU to ALL of the participants for making this one of the greatest DCA shows in history!!
  6. We thank you for coming all that way and letting us see such a great show. You entertained beyond expectations, thank you again!!
  7. Have to agree with Andrew about the show....simply fantastic. Show ran perfectly weather was perfect and all the corps from top to bottom were great!! Outstanding items for the weekend..... STAR in the minicorps division. So outstanding it was unbelievable, and thier victory concert outside made the whole weekend for me. they are beyond fantastic. Cru back in the finals, nice going guys/gals. CORPSVETS- if theyplayed their whole show like they did "Georgia" they would have been higher. Crowd just loved them. RENEGADES - my favorite for entertainment. They set out ot do just that, and people will talk about this for years to come. That's what its all about. Thank you Renegades for making DCA 2007 the greatest entertaining DCA yet!! BUSHWACKERS show was a hi-light to see. What a great looking drill, and you can't say enough about that guard. Prelims for the guard was better, but they were the greatest guard I've EVER seen at DCA, and it was going to take a lot to beat the 96 CABS guard, and you did it. CABALLEROS seemed to turn it on in finals also. Glad to see that hype out there. Thank you for such an awesome show. BUCCANEERS, what can one say about them? I knew they would go undefeated, and they proved it. Best overall show design, so many WOW factors. Classy drum major! Congratulations to your corps!! There was no doubt this year. Next year will be even fiercer, I'm sure and just as entertaining I hope. Great DCA! Also, great job by the folks who put this all together. It ran SO smooth. from the equipment trucks coming in, to the victory concerts after the show. I/E ran just as smooth...congrats to all involved! Can it ever get better??????
  8. IMO - It's definately Buccs on top, no doubt there (I don't care what any of you say), but ES 'could' just move ahead of Cabs for that 2nd spot. They have the show and the crowd, that will fire them up enough, (or make them nervous enough to drop). I'd like to see this because they appeal more to the crowd then Cabs. I would hate to follow ES on the field, because the audience is exhausted. ES needs to do something about their drill though, but it might be too late for that, maybe they can clean up the individual marchers and it will look better.
  9. The comment from Shane about Joey staying in the pit instead of marching was one of the funniest I've read in a while. LOL, and then I read someone else agrees with him....thanks guys, I needed the laugh to get me thru the rest of the day. Good luck at DCA Oh, Regina, I've heard the 'newer' ending to the show, it needs to be a BIG directed ending that will tear the house down....The Statesmen can do it. Please suggest it......we want MORE!!!
  10. Oh, I think ESM1 took it to heart when someone (SHIMES) mentioned that Joey Pero should be in the drill. He only mentioned Joey, not the rest of the soloists. ESM1 got a little bent out of shape on that one. Actually, the people are getting tired of seeing him ONLY in the pit area for the past few years. Can't he march? Maybe he has a problem we all don't know about.? Still, love the corps though.....I would just love to see a big ending to the show to make the people go crazy. It just ends to abruptly. Please change it before DCA.
  11. Now that's pretty neat. Thanks for sharing this map with all of us. Good to see how spread out we really are, more so than I thought.
  12. DCA should just thank those who helped with the show (all at once, not individually), give out the caption awards and then the scores. Then let every corps march off playing their favorite tune while marching by the champion for the final guard salute. That always looks great to see. No more of those silly (childish) antics that goes on out there.
  13. This is all IMO..... White Sabers- not a bad show for what they have out there. Couple of good mellos outplaying the rest of the hornline. Music not exactly recognizable, just needs a lot of practice. Crusaders - the surprise of the night. They sure looked sharp out there and seemed to enjoy themselves, good for them, because the crowd liked it too. The guard is HUGE, but should eliminate a few before DCA to clean it up. No doubt, a force to be reconed with.....if they clean it up. Nice impacts when they needed them, can't wait to see this show later this season, its a winner when it gets clean. Should have been much closer to Brigs. Brigadiers - again, a nice show. Love the music, but it seems a bit too hard for this hornline. People were comparing it to the years they played it, which is a mistake. Take it for what it is this year, they are young and need to water some stuff down. Otherwise, its a fair show, not a dissappointment (as most were saying) Cabs - another nice show, but not thrilling. Guard is good, but not THAT good (IMO). Attacks and releases were off this night and you could hear the moans from the audience. Staff is rediculous at times - calm down guys - its only a show. Otherwise, Carmen is a great drum corps show no matter what. The way they get the 'Rumps' in there is great, the audience couldn't wait for it. Nice show, but should have been 2nd, but very close. Empire - not as thrilling as I expected, but the most entertaining of the night. A couple of 'dead spots', but overall a nice show. M&M needs a lot of work, and the drill is not exciting at all. Guard is the sloppiest I've ever seen this corp, surprised here!! "Taps", although a nice Ferguson tune, is not good for this show.....this was a 'dead' spot. Then the show ends so abrubtly with the best charts of the night. A big powerful ending would be great here to get the crowd. Most were surprised that , that was the end of the show. Come-on guys, give the crowd a reason to stand up and scream. Should have been 1st but close with Cabs, not that rediculous spread. The spread should have been between 2nd and 3rd. THAT was way too close. Crowd was appreciative....full stands, that's what I like. Cabs victory concert was better then the field show (of course, they're in a neat semi-circle). Great way to listen to that hornline. I thought the soloists were great. Why didn't the guard do their 'thing' while the horns were playing? Isn't the guard helping with the win? They sure are, so show them off.!!
  14. Whoa, looks like the slots are there. Buccs are un-beatable, and I don't care what anyone says. Thought Cabs and Empire would be closer, looks like Cabs will keep that spot all the rest of the season. IMO Have a feeling someone will sneak in between Cabs and Empire, ya never know. Brigs and Bush are close and could go either way. But wait Hurcs are coming.....watch out. And look at CV....I think they will sneak up and fool a lot of people. WOW, very exciting season so far. Good luck to all.
  15. I was told once to "please be quiet" during a show from the people in front of me. They were right. I apologized and waited to talk in-between corps. Of course, 2 corps later THEY didn't shut up, but I let that slide. I say, leave the stands and go talk downstairs, which I ended up doing and it was better for everyone. Of course I missed two performances myself, but I learned the hard way, as always. Now I go early and leave late, but I enjoy the show these kids are putting on. Pass the word around 'nicely' and things could work out just fine. Enjoy the season!!!
  16. Yes, for entertainment, this has to be one of the best this year (outside of Rochester DCA of course). What a line-up!!
  17. Also heard that the concessions will not be any better then last year....ugh, just awful. I also heard that all the good seats are gone for finals. Just heresay, I hope its not true.
  18. Okay I'll bite. Just a shot in the dark, we'll have to wait and see how it all turns out tonight, BUT 1st Buccaneers (no doubt here) 2nd Empire (they got the show to ROCK the audience) 3rd Cabs (Carmen will keep them really close to Empire) 4th Bush (haven't seen yet, but I think it will be close) 5th Brigs (just a hunch) 6th Hurcs (although they could switch with Brigs) 7th CV (only because they haven't been tested yet) I'll be anxiously awaiting these results tonight.
  19. A little surprised that no one has written a review. Good or bad, tell us your opinion. Come on SOMEONE had to be in the audience, or was this show un-attended??
  20. And this being an 'indoor' show, anything can happen in two weeks.
  21. Good call here, Crusader, you're absolutely right.
  22. I can remember seeing Empire in the early 90's (maybe 91) with a fast ending that was superb. They didn't stop running until the last note and it was perfect (has to be 91). Bushwackers in 96, talk about your fast endings. Watch the feet and legs going in that whole show (and they could still play). Loved that show.
  23. I'm sorry I sounded so harsh on my assessment of the stadium. I'm just angry with myself because I can't afford to bring a family to that weekend.....tickets alone would be over $200.00 for finals, not to mention prelims, parking, food, hotel, etc.....you get the drift. Like I had said before, I'll just have to catch the corps during the season.
  24. What happens in Drum Corps, STAYS in Drum Corps!!
