Drum judge commentary from past dvds
j.zhivago replied to j.zhivago's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Just checked and I do have that one too already. thank you though. -
Not sure if this is considered 'bootleg mp3' but just curious if anyone has any of the drum judges commentary from when they were put on the dvds. I don't remember when they did that; Possibly 2006 -2008 maybe. I do have the Bluecoats already from 2007 and 2008. Thank you much!

Anyone get a hold of any yet? I did find Cadets2 finals field judge but that's it so far. Thank you!

I don't understand Crown's show.
j.zhivago replied to Allegro89's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Why does it matter? Why can't folks just listen to the music and enjoy? Why do you have to 'understand it'? And why the hell do corps feel the need to create a narrative or theme or story and expect fans to decipher some hidden esoteric meaning? -
Crown's 2013 show "E=mc2"
j.zhivago replied to garfield's_kid's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Was there a meaning to Blue Devils 1982 show? Was there a meaning or theme to Cavaliers 1990 show?? No, not really so why now? Why do corps feel the need to insert some narrative or secret theme and why do so many fans expect this now? Why can't fans just sit back and enjoy instead of looking for some all encompassing story line? Crowns show could certainly do without the whatever-in-the-hell-that-is into the mics covering up the brass and percussion though. -
Bring back Kuhn and Fiedler. End the madness already.

The mainstream does NOT care about DCI. They never will. DCI was fine until the pandering began. It will never be like the 70s,80s and 90s which is sad.I have to go finish listening to 82 BD.See ya.

Lower level corps need horn players too
j.zhivago replied to bersurkman's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I cant speak for everyone but I do know of a lot of kids in the past 7 to 8 years whom were either cut from a top 12 corps or couldn't afford to march with said corps. They would rather not march at all than be part of a smaller corps. Most of them just wanted the spotlight and to say,"oh yeah, I marched Phantom". I didn't get the impression that they wanted to increase their skills, learn teamwork, etc. One kid even told me he didn't want to march a small corps because that would be embarrassing and he wanted to be seen on the top 12 finals dvd. -
What shows have not made sense to you in dci history?
j.zhivago replied to Lance's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Why does a show have to 'make sense'? Just because of the title given to it? Cant people just enjoy the music? I really wish corps wouldn't give a 'theme' for their show then everyone wouldn't have to try and pick it apart. Not everyone thinks alike. What the hell happened to drum corps and its fans?? -
What would happen if...

In 1993 both Southwind and SCV Cadets played the soundtrack from 'Far and Away'. -
Inside the Arc - "The Dut Must Die"
j.zhivago replied to DCP Commentary's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Had a friend some years ago that wanted to march Cavaliers just because he was addicted to the way the drum line subdivided.True story. I think a lot of times the dutting has been used way more than actually 'needed' by the battery. It is a hype thing to a lot of drummers. Some of my favorite recorded moments are hearing the duts right before an attack. Back in the late 80's my high school drum line would do it as long as it wasn't heard in the stands. Our director didn't want it to be "part of the show" as he would say. -

How in the heck did they get away with that visual at the start of the feature? HA. I love watching that show every once in a while.I remember the center snare was hyped-up that entire show.
