Why is DCI so unknown by almost everyone?
nngs9 replied to DCISuperfan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I see your point but i'd bet that she really goes because she just loves NASCAR, my brother loves nascar and he goes because he loves nascar, just like a drumcorps fan would go to a drumcorps show for no other reason than it's a drumcorps show! -

Well said!! I used to cringe (and even be offended) to hear drumcorps referred to as a marching band but over the last 10 or so years, instead of trying to explain Corps to a newbie by dancing around the words "Marching Band" i usually say that it's that movie Drumline and marching band in general on steroids. Extreme Marching Band!!!! -
I know that 85 and 87 were not the Bridgemens best years but i remember the Big Christmas present in 85 and i was in attendance in 87 for their last performance. Any pics/vids from then would be appriciated. ps: my older bros. marched 81(i was 11 then), people may say that they sucked in 85/87 but these are two vids i'd #### near kill to see above ANY other.

If i recall correctly

That was the first thing that came to mind for me (both my older brothers marched Bayonne 81) DCIs' first scatter drill??

After seeing my post today, i was mortified to realize that i didn't mention Joey Cavallaro, another Mr.McGrath deciple, Joey is nothing but good for this activity as well as a true friend to me and a DCA personality for sure! anyone remember I@E 90? Joey did the Wizard of Oz on snare drum, Witches nose and all, how's'bout Joey as the Joker at 92 I@E, not too shabby. Speaking of 92 I@E, Joey also can lay claim to DCAs' 1st 100 @ I@E(given by none other than Rick Rogers..RIP, a drumcorps legend/personality in his own rite!), go DrumMachine D.A.M. - - + Joe Guadagnino, The Keck bros., Frank Nash, Kevin Murphy, "Swerv"(the westshore guy), even my nemesis "Skellequad"

Right on! i never actually met Pepe but i remember circa 90 in Allentown watching him run a rehearsal(don't even remember what corps it was that he was teaching) for a really tiny corps, Pepe had serious passion, i remember wishing i was in that corps at that time. And on the Vince Bruni tip, there are just no words that i can think of! But i will quote a fellow '94 Statesmen. "God sent" . Having said all that, at the end of the day, for me, the one true "god sent" in my personal/drumcorps life is none other than,................................ Mr. Bill Mcrath Jr!!! This guy is a living legend and in my opinion, drumcorps personified.

Audience types at Mini Corps competition

Lets not forget that it poured that night, witch brought everyone inside. I have a feeling that had alot to do w/the record attendance for the mini-corps competition. People always congregate near wherever the bar is. I once played a party in that very facility where the bar was clear across the room(40yards or so), 'till they were good and drunk, they stayed by the bar. I'm not taking sides here, i feel for the people that are there to watch the show and are distracted by the noise from the back of the room but i don't remember this issue arising last year. -
Disconnect between recaps and awards announced

Makes me wonder how the years i marched would've shaken out w/this rule in place. -

An off night can happen to anyone/corps in any situation! Makes me wonder, why isn't every show for every corps not a composite of the last show and that nights performance. And on the Judging bias tip, correct me if i'm wrong but the last i knew the finals judges panel was voted on. What happened to letting the chips fall where they may? -

The fact that they did combine prelims and finals is why it doesn't make sense. IMO, you guys won Brass in a three way tie! -

Fair enough i guess but i was wondering what is the logic in doing it that way. -

Be careful patting yourself on the back like that, you could pull a tendon or something. -
