  1. no you said you had no success with opening peoples minds to drum corps but i told you it was possible with one of the cavalier shows (possibely machine or 007) they wouldnt care about how beautiful that chord is. They wanna see some cool, innovative things. although i feel some of you alls perception on "cool" is watching crowns pre show in 2009, or stuff like that why do i post on here if i think its stupid? simple i see stupid people say stupid things, and i want to comment about it. the only corps i could see entertaining crowds not involved with music are cavaliers and blue devils. Possibly scouts from this year
  2. thats not entirely true im a good example of someone who thought, and still thinks drum corps is stupid as an outsider looking in, id have to say a recent cavaliers show will do the trick just not 200o, 2001, or 2009
  3. probably the first realistic prediction thus far.. Although Cavies usually arent very clean beginning of the year, so they might be a little lower at the atart. by finals night, i think cavies and bd will be in the top two. just not sure which one.
  4. your ignorance is painful.. i think you underestimate the difficulty of some drum corps shows 1) your band probably isnt as clean as you think. After drum corps your eyes are a lot more developed. 2) in 2008 my opener was 96 charts. the entire show was 276 charts. how many does your band have? i could go on and on..
  5. im noy on the outside looking in im actually IN one of these corps and trust me, phantom is not a rival for either of us
  6. whatever it is you're smoking, i want some...
  7. Phantom beating Cavaliers twice in over a decade is hardly considered a rivialry i think Cavaliers vs Blue Devils is a big rivalry maybe not back in the day, but Cavies and BD have dominated the 2000's with the exception of 2 years, its either BD or Cavaliers plus they are the two most consistent corps in the top 5 nuff said
  8. The judges usually get it right by finals night (with the exception of 2008 IMO) The Cavaliers were using different kinds of tonal sequences that were new to dci. the judges noticed noticed its difficulty and gave credit where its due. as for bluecoats, who werent doing anything that hasnt been done before just executed their show well. easy stuff, just performed well.
  9. i dont mean any disrespect to the alumni, but i am not impressed with anything done in the 70's or anything before the 90's for that matter. I have heard corps from back then and honestly? i'm glad i didnt grow up in that era. I like groups being innovative. If drum corps didnt evolve it would become stale and boring. Fortunately this forum is such a small portion of the dci fan base that your opinions don't really matter to anyone who marches. I may be new, but i'd pick new school over old school. I guess this is a place for old people to rant about how they think "back in their day drum corps was better" I know im going to get slammed big time on this, so bring it.
  10. these guys can scream, not mosquitoes the one on the left can hit Cs like nothing When you have an entire hornline playing as loud as they can, 3 trumpet players wont be heard so well. And these real "trumpet soloist" youre talking about dont play their solos when the entire hornline is maxing their sound out i really wish people would get over the mic'd solos. They got a standing ovation before they even finished the movement at finals, so its not like you or anyone elses opinion matters.
  11. Doing push ups after performing that show was not an easy task.. trust me
  12. oh well. no big loss. there are still thousands of other people who are still into it.
  13. When i read this i literally Laughed Out Loud
  14. hahahahaha i totally agree considering they had the most fan favorite show that night that stadium was on their feet halfway through the show
  15. i never said they werent the best, i stated that them and cavaliers have somewhat equal talent level. And as i recall, BD lost to cavaliers and phantom in 08.
  16. i see what you're saying, but i the only corps i think that can end their winning streak right now is the cavaliers. Semifinals was the closest anyone has been to them in awhile i think (correct me if im wrong) Besides, Blue Devils corp ages out in 2011, so i can see them losing within the next couple years.
  17. Both Cavaliers and Blue Devils are in the same tier trust me on this one as ive been on both sides of the organization
  18. So, am i safe to say that these two corps are the corps to beat? Blue Devils and Cavaliers seem to be the top two corps as far as consistancy in the activity. Even though they may not necessarily have the best shows all the time, but they have a much bigger talent pool than most other corps. What are your thoughts on that?
