  1. I live in PA and if any school in our area even thought about a $60 million stadium, the taxpayers would be furious and fight it tooth and nail. Here, they decrease budgets, eliminate some school programs, lay off teachers and other staff people and they build $60 stadiums in Texas. Only in America, as they say. But good for Allen. Looks like an incredible stadium.
  2. CBD, thank you so much. My three tickets are still in the envelope. I wish I could have been there but other things came up. I was looking forward to seeing Spirit. They are one of the few corps anymore who make it worth it. Thanks again and best wishes to you and yours..
  3. Nice. Thank you for posting that. Now I see what I am missing tonight. We get one show a year here and I had to miss it. Dang.
  4. The parking lot beside the stadium is all grass. If they parked cars in there that field is going to be a quagmire.
  5. I bet you watched Woman's Beach Volleyball for more than a bit....heh heh. I know I did. And I had to eat three tickets to the Pittsburgh (Baldwin) show tonight.
  6. If i would have been able to be there and not eat my tickets, I could have bought you a thunder hot dog. Thanks for all the posts....so nice of you to do that.
  7. The souvie area was always right beside the stadium in part of the parking lot, which is all grass. Walk out of the stadium ( high school) and it was right there. Since that area is all grass they may have had to move it due to mud. And I see your question was already answered.
  8. Major storm for sure. My only opportunity to see a show all year and here I sit at home 12 minutes before the show is to start. Weather radar shows rain and more rain back to eastern WV. Hope they can get a late start and get the show in. To think I have to eat three $30 tickets.....sigh.
  9. That's the best way....not caring what people think, I mean.
  10. I can understand that but it's too bad that there isn't time. Asheville murph made a great point, though.
  11. I can only imagine the looks I would get from people if I wore that shirt somewhere like a mall. I have the Cadets "Do you see what I see" shirt and have not worn it yet. People will see that in July and think I am some kind of nutcase. Only us corps nuts can relate.
  12. Exactly, Murph. I usually can get to only one show a year and sometimes I can't go to that one. Last month I checked corps websites and few had 2012 merchandise online. Cadets did so I ordered a shirt from them. Seems to me that a lot of corps are missing out on making some loot by not having merchandise for sale online. I know they are on the road but just one person can pack and ship. Maybe I'm wrong but if I was a corps director, I sure would have the merchandise online as well as in the trailers. $$$$$$$
  13. Safe to assume no USMC Silent Drill Team?
  14. Financial and logistical problems ....does not look good for a comeback, but we can always hope. Dang, I hate losing another corps.
  15. It's pretty bad when a person has to begin a topic or thread playing defense. Anyway, I think it's human nature for some people to not like those who win consistently. In most cases it's just jealousy. I have no clue about the judging question, though. That's why I don't understand how these rankings are done since there appears to be differences in judging maybe on a regional basis. Looks like it won't matter where BD is judged this year, though.
  16. You mentioned interning for a minor league baseball team. My son was offered an internship with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans about two months ago or so. We live over 600 miles from there so he had to decline the opportunity. Off topic I know but I had to throw (baseball talk) that in.
  17. I think maybe we moan and groan about some things shows that we care. I would call it constructive criticism. If we didn't care then we would not be here. Also, one of the main issues is that we are always dealing with a generation gap. "Grandpa " as well as many others in here including myself, remember drum corps as it used to be. So we have to deal with the ongoing changes they make such as amps. A lot of people gave up on drum corps but there are still many who did not. We stop in here, buy souvies, belong to booster clubs, watch practices, make big sacrifices to attend shows and sit in stadiums to watch drum corps. I could go on and on. And just what corps will we look forward to see you with next year?
  18. Hop could have all the woodwinds he wanted then. Maybe even a banjo.
